Hello from Missouri.
For several years ive had this .22" factory tapered barrel.
Stainless.
Pretty sure it came off a wall mart special.
I've finally got it set up with TSR100 Tech Sights, Homebrewed trigger job.
Homemade cheek riser.
And vet wrap tape on butt pad.
Bloody little thing shoots fantastic.
Anyone else use one of these 22" barrels ?

I saw one at our local autumn Pumpkin Shoot last week. The one I saw had a blued (black) receiver, wood deluxe-style stock (no barrel band), and the non-shiny/bead-blasted/matte stainless barrel.

Does that description match the one you have?
It was a darn good shooter for an unmodified factory gun (the owner just added a scope).

Yes.. mine has a black receiver also.
I use a Carbine stock.
It's amazingly accurate with federal bulk ammo.
Also likes Remington Goldens.
Turnings out to be my favorite 10/22.
The Tech Sights make it really fun to shoot.

I had one of the early WalMart Special 10/22 rifles in stainless with a 22" barrel and normal rifle sights. The profile matched the standard carbine barrel, but it looked like it had just been stretched to 22 inches (looked too skinny near the muzzle). Same semi-shiny finish of the standard stainless 10/22 carbines, and a plain wood stock.

The one I had absolutely WASN'T a good shooter, or even a decent shooter. It was a dog.
I sold it to a guy who wanted a longer-barreled .22 to match his Ruger bolt-action deer rifle.
He was more worried about the looks than the accuracy - a buyer/seller match made in heaven.

So far

So far ,mine is shooting very well.
Federal bulk ammo.. getting great groups at thirty five yards.. with tech Sights.
One of my biggest improvements is the vet wrap tape cheek riser.
It sure helps.

Yeah, I was surprised at a 10/22 shooting that well…

I figured it was a combination of a longer barrel and a standard velocity round with that burn characteristic for that barrel length.

OR

Maybe I just got lucky with a particular individual barrel and chamber reaming for that loading or whatever…

Luck or skill; I’ll take either one for the same end result!

My favorite Ruger 10/22 barrel is the Blued hammer forged Bull barrel with the forging marks on the outside of the barrel in kind of a twist/spiral pattern. I'm not sure what length those barrels were but they were probably 20 or 22 inches. I never shot one but they were probably pretty accurate but could be made more accurate with the addition of a Ruger BX trigger assembly which should be available as an option installed on every Ruger 10-22.

Because one thing every 10/22 needs to make them more accurate is a trigger job or one of the Ruger BX triggers. another thing that helps with the accuracy of any Ruger 10/22 is a Tactical Solutions Stainless Steel Ruger 10/22 V-Block from E Arthur Brown or directly from Tactical solutions. What it does is tighten the barrel to the receiver in such a way that the barrel is absolutely square to the receiver.

The price is $19.00 from E Arthur Brown or $20.00 from Tactical Solutions. I don't know which company charges more for shipping but I've ordered a 10/22 trigger kit from E Arthur Brown and shipping were reasonable and the product arrived within a few days.

I had my local gunsmith install the trigger kit for me and tweak it a little bit and it is XLNT! He only charged me 20 bucks for the installation and it really made a difference on my Ruger charger which I had also installed and aftermarket Bull barrel with a Bentz target chamber
