Thought I'd provide a quick pricing update, in case anyone was looking for a BX-25x2 for holiday giving (or getting). As mentioned in the review, above, this is NOT two mags clipped together that can be separated; it is a single mag which feeds 25 rounds of ammo from each end.

CDNN has these BX-25x2 mags on sale this weekend (until noon Monday CST) for $33.33, plus shipping. Free shipping for $99 or larger orders; $9.99 shipping for orders under $99. Details:

(Link will disappear or change once sale is over)
I have no connection to Ruger or CDNN. Just trying to spread some cheer!

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!

I didn't know these existed either, until Tuesday night, 12/9/14. I ordered 2 of them from Cabella's for 39.99 each free shipping, received them Thursday 12/11/2014. I really like the looks of them in my 2 10/22's. Gonna find out how they feed this weekend.

I was gonna grab a link for other folks to use, but it looks like Cabelas price is now $46.99, so I won't bother. You must have got in just before they went up!

CDNN has them on sale today, not sure how long it will last; the base price is cheap, but they're gonna add more for shipping. $29.99 plus shipping right now:

Another option is 44mag.com, currently showing them at $36.00:

Great write up DJ. tom.

Yeah, I too looked at them. Couldn't make up my mind if I liked them or not. Still not sure. The added weight kind of made me wonder? Hope you like them and thanks for taking the time to write the review.

Good Show there matey!:wavey:

They are kind of large, and awkwardly shaped, but the one I have is still running like a top. I had also been thinking about grabbing a couple more, but with the way ammo availability is running, I'm doing far less high-volume plinking, so I think I'll just stick with getting another few standard BX-25s for now.

My son wanted one for his 10/22 when they were on sale at Cabela's a few months ago and we picked one up. It works fine, just like a standard BX-25. It is a little longer and a little heavier though.

One mag I really like that I picked up recently is the GSG Rotary 110rd magazine. I got it for about $60 and I haven't had any problems with it except for it taking a bit longer to load...110 rounds...lol

It does make my SR22 rifle really fun to shoot and look badass at the same time, although when fully loaded adds a couple pounds to the weight of the rifle.

I just might have to try one of those out.

(checks wallet)

Someday...

How many times have you loaded/used it?
Any stoppages?
What kind of ammo did you use (successfully and not)?

I've only used it 3 times since I've had it. No stoppages or feeding problems. I've used Federal 36 grain copper plated hollow points (550 value pack) and CCI Mini Mags.

It does fit tightly into my son's Archangel AA556R stocked 10/22, the sides of the mag well isn't as loose on that as on a stock wood or polymer stock. It's pretty close on my SR22 which is a 10/22 with an aluminum Nordic Components stock, but not as tight as it is on his. I guess that can be both a good/bad thing...good to help hold the weighted mag secure....bad because it takes a little bit of finagling to get the mag head up and seated into the mag well.

I just bought 8 of the 50rd mags and 15 of the 25 rd mags. I plan on getting a Ruger 10/22 soon and these came up for sale. I couldn't pass them up. I have a lot of buddies that have 10/22s. The 25 rounders are on sale at Cope's right now in a 5 pack deal for $89.99 and Free Shipping with coupon code FREE50. That's $17.98 each delivered. It's in the link here http://gun-deals.com/deals/28489-5-pack-ruger-10-22-bx-25-25rd-22lr-mag and The 50rd are $24.95 and if you spend over $90 Shipping is free http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/RUGER_10_22_25rd_Magazine_Stainless_Steel_Feed_Li_p/rug-90398.htm Spend over $100 you get a free Tee-Shirt and Free Shipping. You have to add the Shirt to the Cart from here. http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/FREE_JoeBob_Tee_Assorted_Colors_Designs_p/jbt01.htm This is the best price I've seen on either of these Mags. recently especially with Free Shipping.

This was a great review and I just sent it to my buddy who's going to be the owner of some of these Mags. We were wondering especially about the construction of the 50rd mag and if it was a single body or two bolted together and you answered that perfectly. The pictures were great. Hey I expected these to be good, they're Ruger. I've repaired quite a few 10/22s but don't own one....yet. That will change in the near future I suspect.

Thanks for the kind words; I'm glad folks are still finding this review useful!

Update: I'm still using this mag occasionally, and now it has been tested and used in 5 different 10/22s, from heavily modified models to just-unpacked-and-stock-from-the-factory, with no stoppages. If .22 ammo was more common on the shelves, it would be getting used more regularly, but until I can walk into a store and find reasonably-priced .22 ammo in-stock every day, my 10-shot mags will be getting the lion's share of the feeding duties.

I got my buddy a couple of the BX-25s a few years ago while I was repairing two 10/22s for him and his dad. He had some after market mag that broke when his son dropped it on the carport. I suggested the factory mags. and found some for what at the time was a decent deal at like $20 a piece. When these came up I couldn't say no. I mean I don't even own a 10/22 but it's one of the rifles that will be added to my collection. Plus I tend to go overboard buying firearms stuff. Did it with 22lr a few years ago and talked my buddy into doing it and he's been thanking me ever since. That was when you could still get 5,000rds for under $190 shipped. Helps that I'm Admin. for gun-deals and know a lot of people in the business. He got about 12K and I stopped at around 35K rounds. I figured the BX-25x2 were going to be fine but reading this review helped before they get here. I sent my buddy the link to it. Were weren't sure about the main body makeup and whether it was a single section or two 25 round mags bolted together and you answered that. Thanks again for taking time to do this.

Awesome review. I picked one up for a good price on sale. Expecting it to run flawlessly at first chance!
