thoughts on the .440 corbon chambered in a GI .50gi upper,

i would guesstimate it is somewhat possible.

one would need, a glock 20 or 21, with a .50 gi upper, based on the .45, it has a .45 case head. the .440 corbon is a necked down .50 ae, which itself is a derivitive of the .44mag, same case head. so the .50 gi upper should grab hold of the .440 corbon case and extract it. also eject it.

now for the cartridge length of the .440, is it way out of the 25mm length of a 10mm or .45acp? yeah it is, its 32mm long.

would it be possible to flare the ejection port of the glock to allow the .440 to pass through? would the frame fit the round?

The Frame most likely will not fit the cartridge but you could neck down a .50GI to .44

The range of bullet weights that would work will be very few.
Better off looking at the .460 Rowland if you want a larger diameter bullet

I once considered buying a Desert Eagle in .440 corbon. That is WAY too hot of a cartridge for the Glock pistol. Great ballistics - needs to have a scope to take advantage of the round though...

It would never fit in a Glock of any type made today.

Folks need to realize that .50 AE and .50 GI and whatever derivitives there could be AIN'T nowhere near the same.

Folks need to realize when a thread is talking about the .440 cor-bon which is based on the .50AE case and not having anything to do with the .50GI cartridge.

The only reason I'd get the GI is if they made a can for it. Can't think of anything better to do with a .50 cal bullet that's slower than a .45!

yes i was originally referring to the .50 action express based .44o corbon. but i see it is mighty mighty long. so no chance.

but i was thinking , jsut a thought, maybe a specialized .440 short based on the .50gi.

guys over at the ar15f 10mm talk got me thinking, the crazy conversions out of thin air they do is pretty cool.

.50gi case necked to .40 that is my thoughts now, but just for discussions sake.

i am looking to do a new conversion pistol of some type, the beretta storm i am thinking of real hard, gotta get my hands on a .45 version to see some things....

That would be a cool round. Maybe better than .40 Super or .460?

im sure it would have more "UMPH" to it than a .40 super or .460.

i had a longer post with the .50gi vs .45acp argument, but i see they dont have the 185 g loads for the .50gi anymore.

anyway, the 300g .50gi is only 700 fps, with 376lbs of muzzle energy.

275g load is 875 fps with .467 lbs of muzzle energy.

hardly worth the trouble of spending 400 bux on a kit.

id like to see the .50gi made into a .440 light.
