I have a gen two which was literally $145 plus tax at my local store that I have put 200 rounds through with absolutely zero issues. I think I know why the previous owner sold it cheap to my local store... the slide release was not installed correctly with spring catch going under the notch rather than over it and the slide would have stopped open with every shot but I caught this when I was inspecting the gun at the store and bought it. So far absolutely zero issues even with wolf steel case, I was trying to make it fail and it won't. Finally I cleaned it and it looks great. I see them online for $200 in mint condition and while I would rather use a G26 or Shield for daily carry I definitely think the R51 is a very interesting pistol, especially for the price nowdays. I am not an expert by any means but I don't see a lot of pistols in this price range with checkered front strap and intricate machining like the R51. In this price range, I don't thing there is anything reliable not even surplus in the market yet people keep hating the R51.
If you actually own one and have not just read or seen horrible reviews of them, do you have issues with yours? Mine has been very reliable and I don't think its the only one out there that is good. Can you please share your ownership experience on an R51?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
