Due to the Glock hump you are a rare one indeed if your quick grip sight picture is not front sight high. The P320 comes up ALIGNED. The modular switch from my Compact to Sub-Compact for $40 with the 3.9" barrel is fabulous. Like having a G19/G26 for one price. Some have paid dearly to shorten the grip on a G17, 19, 20 or 21 getting this makes sense modularity. With Glock you end up with magazine spacers. With Sig its a $40 or less grip that requires no spacers. Until some aspect of the P320 is actually deemed to be unreliable without bias, it will remain my best pick.

One of guys I trust more than most on their opinion and testing of function of their firearms, is Barret Fawbush. He ran the 320 in his quest to find the best striker gun under 5xx dollars. And considering I didn't like the gun in the slightest before hand, I wasn't shocked to find I liked it even less after Barret put it through it's paces. Almost every normal, not-sponsored-by-sig, review of the gun gives it pretty terrible marks. No matter how you cut it, it's a fat, bloated, low quality, terrible shooting gun. Hate em.

Regardless of what you were told, from the time they receive it, the turnaround has been a week to 10 days. They will send you a new owner's manual, a decal, and a coupon for a discount in the SIG online shop.

Several of my friends' pistols were sent on a Thursday and received back by Friday the following week in one case (8 days including shipping), and in the other cases, by Tuesday of the next week (12 days including the weekends).

When I talked to SIG Sauer the other day, the guy said they were "upgrading" 800 pistols per day.
I registered for the upgrade almost two weeks ago and haven’t heard back from Sig yet.

Maybe they are quick once they get the gun, but it may be weeks or months before they are ready for him to send it in, after registering.

It still astounds me the number of people who offer up such concrete definitive opinions on any product without at least quantifying it with the fact that they’ve never even held much less used the product. It also cracks me up why so many “gun guys” are of the opinion that you can only love one brand or type of gun. I have owned and loved many different makes and models of guns and like/love many different ones for different reasons. I have owned and shot the P320. Got one when they first came out. It shot ok, but I just didn’t care for it and sold it after about 200 rds. Sig makes some great guns, just didn’t particularly care for the P320. I like the M&P, XD, APX, and Glock a lot more. I was surprised when the Army selected the P320, but having worked in the govt acquisitions process, it doesn’t always come down to buying the best product. Many times it comes down to price per unit, spare parts, and follow-on logistics support that seals the deal. I do hope all the troops just love the P320 and that it works very well for them in the field. I personally loved the Beretta M9 but sure understand why others didn’t, especially those with smaller hands. The modularity of the P320 should address that just fine. So for those that have and like the P320, great! I’m glad for you and hope it serves you well, just wasn’t my cup of tea. For those that have never even held one, yet offer such negative “opinions”, move along please. You have nothing of value to offer here.

Waves vs pig nose. Take your pick. My Glock shoots every time with no need to send it to glock. I'll stick with pig nose.
Neither one of those bother me but the one thing that both have is the "finger hook" on the front of the trigger guard. I Do Not use that for my finger although I tried that hold years ago. Therefore the poly comes in real handy here and with first a coarse rasp followed by a fine rasp I have been able to completely remove them on my Glocks (haven't gotten to the 42 "yet") and smooth out just fine. Only thing I see them useful for is catching on holster edges or pants pocket. Off with de hook :)

You DO realise Pete, that your beloved Glock(s) have been the victim of numerous voluntary and mandatory "upgrades" since 1990, right? If not, pull up a chair and have a read:

"Glock Pistol Upgrades

1990 Upgrade

Glock Model 19, 9mm Luger caliber, requires an upgrade for the following serial numbers:

AN, BP, BR, BV, BW, BX, DL, DM, DN, DP, DR, DS, DT, DV, DW, DX, DY, DZ
These pistols may have the potential of the action to malfunction as follows:
1. The slide locking back on a full magazine.
2. Failure to lock into battery because the barrel lug drags on the slide lock.
3. The magazine follower tips or sticks in the magazine tube.

1992, 6 part Upgrade

GLOCK, INC. Technical Bulletin #920403

April 1, 1992

Glock, Inc. announces a production change of the firing pin safety system. This new firing pin safety system has been installed in all production Glock pistols since November, 1991. A voluntary upgrade is being offered to maintain the Glock tradition of ensuring that all of our pistoils are up to the latest standards in 21st century Glock technology.

Most importantly, the components of the new firing pin safety system are not interchangable with the components of the old systam and Glock will always strive towards maintaining this feature of interchangability while working to ensure future interchangability.

The upgraded firing pin safety system consists of: the firing pin, firing pin safety, the extractor, the spring loaded bearing and the trigger bar. The upgraded system is applicable only to Glock pistols with the following serial number ranges :

Glock 17 - alpha prefix AA - WF
Glock 21 - alpha prefixes through XL
Glock 19 - alpha prefixes through WJ Glock 22 - alpha prefixes through YA
Glock 20 - alpha prefixes thorugh WW Glock 23 - alpha prefixes through SK

The upgraded firing pin safety has a new surface finish making it nearly 100% saltwater corrosion resistant. Also, after rigorous and extensive testing, the new system proves to be more durable and has a longer useful life. Here, as alwyas, Glock is working toward maintaining its standard of perfection.

1993, G19 Upgrade

Glock Model 19, 9mm Luger caliber, requires an upgrade for all pistols.

These pistols have the potential for an UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE of a cartridge with the action open.

The Glock model 19 pistol slide has a bottom protrusion, whose function is to push cartridges from the top of the magazine into the chamber. When the pistol is jammed in a double feed situation, the slide protrusion can come in contact with the primer of the jammed cartridge and cause UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE while the action is open.

2000, G26/27 Recoil spring upgrade

Glock Model 26, 9mm caliber, serial numbers DGU, DHR DKU.

Glock Model 27, .40S&W caliber, serial numbers DGD, DGV, DHS, DHT, DKV, DKW, DKX.

Mr. Don Bulver, warranty department of Glock, Inc., indicated the recoil springs produced before September 1999 may shear off on some of these pistols due to over hardness of the support tube.

Replacement springs will be distinguished by a vertical mark from the center on the front polymer portion of outer ring of the guide rod assembly, which will appear to be a mold line.

2002 Frame Upgrade – Rear slide rail

The GLOCK Corporation has identified a problem with a very small percentage of GLOCK pistols produced between September of 2001 and May of 2002. The specific problem that has been identified is the potential of breaking a rear frame rail in pistols manufactured during this time period. Within the specific range the breakage rate has been less than 0.0188%. So, while the actual percentage of rails reported broken is within any accepted manufacturing tolerance, it is not an acceptable situation to the GLOCK Corporation. It is also important to note that under most conditions GLOCK pistols will continue to function with three rails. A routine maintenance check after each time the pistol has been taken out and used would immediately indicate if there is a problem.

We are, therefore, concerned that a limited number of customers will not get the product we have promised them and what we have always delivered, the very best pistol on the market, in short, a GLOCK.

For these reasons, we have made the decision that in the interest of customer service, replacement frames will be offered to anyone who has a firearm in this range and decides to take advantage of this offer. The replacement frames will have identical serial numbers to our customer's original firearm except the numeral 1 will be added as a prefix. If you believe your firearm is within this range, please call 1-866-225-4098 to take advantage of the ultimate in customer service.

Nothing less than the best for our customers is acceptable to GLOCK and, as always, we will continue to work towards Perfection.

It appears that only serial numbers starting with "E", "GSSF", or "USA" (American Hero’s Commemoratives) are affected. In general, the chronological serial number set that has the prefix letters of "EKA" through "EVR" inclusive appear to be the affected Glocks, regardless of caliber. Three letters precede three numbers on a plate forward of the trigger guard on the underside of the polymer frame. However, some aberrations to this generalization have been reported by GTers. Reports are that the affected Glocks were manufactured from September 2001 to May 2002. So if you bought (or won a GSSF Glock) an "E" or "USA" series Glock in September of 2001 up until the present day, you might have an affected Glock. Unfortunately, Glock has not published a list. Hope this helps, but again, if you are responsible enough to own a gun and can read this, you are smart enough to check for yourself by calling Glock.

August 8, 2005 - The Glock G36 issue

Glock prides itself in the quality of its pistol and the quality of its manufacturing process. Despite our high standards, however, it has recently come to our attention through our quality testing efforts that a limited number of Glock Model 36 pistols may have an abnormality that could possibly interfere with the operation of the Glock trigger safety. The affected pistols require a simple but necessary modification to ensure the trigger safety operates as intended. IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF YOUR GLOCK 36 THAT THIS MODIFICATION BE MADE AT GLOCK'S U.S. HEADQUARTERS IN SMYRNA, GA.

If you possess a Glock Model 36 with a serial number in the ranges below PLEASE IMMEDIATELY UNLOAD THE FIREARM AND CLEAR THE CHAMBER. Deliver the pistol to :
1. A UPS Hub (not a store)
2. The place of business where you purchased the firearm of a dealer in your area with a daily UPS pick up.

***Always have the package boxed and labeled with the preprinted return label attached***
If you have any problems with this UPS shipping procedure, please contact Costumer Service toll free at 1-800-701-1558.

Glock will quickly perform the modification and return your pistol to you at no cost. The serial number of your Glock 36 can be found on the silver serial number plate located on the underside of the frame towards the front of the pistol.

The affected serial number ranges are:
GLM 000-999
GRC 500-999

I'm particulary fond of the 1993 G19's "mandatory" recall. All those who automatically poo-poo the SIG for their P320 voluntary recall should read the above...it pays to keep abreast of history, even the reality of the not-so-great-history of your..."Glock"...

blasphemy!!!

Maybe they are quick once the get the gun, but it may be weeks or months before they are ready for him to send it in, after registering.

It takes a while to get the e-mail. But service is outstanding. Door to door time for me was 7 days. My buddy's door to door time was 8 days.

I’ve enjoyed many Glocks for quite a few years. But never enjoyed shooting my Glocks chambered in .40S&W.

Forty happens to be my favorite defense caliber, due to combination of potency, capacity, and penetration. Compared to Glock, I much preferred and enjoyed shooting .40S&W in the soft-shooting Browning HiPowers, STI Edge, and M&P40 and M&P40 Compact. The M&P40 and M&P40 Compact gradually won me over for daily carry.

Then along came the P320. I picked up a P320 .40S&W full size and carry. Loved how they feel in the hand, how softly they shoot, and with the full size how nicely that front end stays down for rapid follow up shots. And, the trigger! Wonderful.

So today, my preferred defense guns are both the M&P40, M&P40C, and the P320 40. I think they’re awesome pistols and enjoy shooting them immensely.

There is no doubt that the P320 is well on its way to becoming a very popular and widely used pistol. Same with the M&P. Good stuff!

My Glocks? I still keep 'em around G21SF, G30, G19, G17. They're ok, but not my favorite any longer. Guns like the M&P, HK VP, P320, and PPQ have surpassed them.

I sent four of my P320s in for the upgrade. The forties were back to me with even better feeling triggers in less than 10 days. Great customer service from SIG. The nines are taking longer.

I like these guns - especially the full size models. I love the weight, as it makes shooting forty caliber feel like shooting a soft 9mm.

The only personal preference mod that I choose to do is adding Talon rubberized grip wrap. And I do that with all of my polymer pistols, Glocks, M&Ps, SIGs.

I am with you on this. Love the 40's. I have a P250 compact double action in 40 that is very accurate. It has almost the same accuracy as my P320 9mm compact. It takes me a little longer to get the shot off with the P250 than with the P320. Also have a Kahr PM40 and a Ruger SRC40 that I am very happy with. For some reason, the Kahr PM40 is more accurate than the PM9 I have. I registered my P320c 9mm for the upgrade in mid August, got the notice with return shipping documents in mid October, and they got it back in 7 days door to door.

A lot of butt-hurt 320 lovers in here. It's ok... shoot what you want. We don't need to all agree on everything.
FUNNY!

With dumb comments like yours, obviously you are the disgruntled butt-hurt around here! Sucks to be the butt-hurt!

The P320 has a lot of fans because we LIKE and enjoy the guns! Nothing butt-hurt about that. These are sa-weet shooters! The fact that that bothers you somehow is beyond me. If the P320 is not you choice, just move along and quit grousing. Life is too short to waste your time being a disgruntled grouser!

Hey, you loving fat bloated pigs is between you and the almighty. :couch:

I'm not losing any sleep.

I strongly believe that one of the reasons the military chose the P320, is the manual safety positioned similar to it's former Beretta and even 1911s. Folks deal with it. Glocks and their shooters both trained LE and not, have a very high level of AD/NG. We can argue about this like we have been since the late 80s. It won't change anything.

I put in my 320 information for the upgrade the day it came out. I believe it was October 16th when i got the shipping email. I received my 320 back on November 6th. The trigger feels even better now than it did stock. I have only dry fired for now, but will take it out shooting next week.

Also, I could not get my 320 to fire with any drop or hitting it with a hammer, but I decided to get it upgraded anyways.

I'm very happy with how SIG has handled the upgrade. Their customer service has been stellar for me. Free FedEx express round-trip shipping, quick turn-around, and now triggers that are better than ever. Nice. The 25% discount on the next order at their shop is a nice bonus.

Another example... my P938 had the early sear/MSH design. It was functioning fine and I only very rarely shoot it, but I wanted the upgraded design. One email to SIG and they had a replacement to the new style in the mail to me. No charge. Good experiences with SIG for me.

No complaints at all.

It is my understanding that the problem with the P320 was a heavy trigger. Mine came back with a much lighter trigger. I think the Apex trigger is lighter to start with and would accomplish the same thing so why bother to send it in. I liked the Apex.

For those who don't like the Apex (dongle thingy in the middle of the trigger shoe?) or don't want to buy an Apex... the SIG upgrade is a good option. There is no cost to taking advantage of it and you get a 25% off coupon at the SIG store. Nothing wrong with that deal in my view. And the trigger feel after the upgrade is generally reported to be even better than the already very nice trigger feel before the upgrade.

Certainly do as you wish... leave the P320 as is, send in for the free upgrade, buy an Apex trigger. Whatever floats your boat, as long as you're happy with it, is all that matters.
