I'm shopping for a decent case or range bag for travel (by car) to and from various competitions including but not limited to GSSF events. I was looking at the Condition 1 4 gun case (#179 I think) but honestly only because it popped up on social media and I happened to like it. But I'm looking for real world experience and recommendations. I'm not married to the hard case idea but really anything that protects my guns and red dots etc. so I don't have to have 3-4 loose boxes floating around the truck. Room for magazines is a plus but not a necessity. Some of the bags seem over-complicated with dedicated and sometimes unidentifiable storage. I just wonder what everyone likes. Thanks!

This is a good topic. I’m also interested in other people’s recommendations on bags and preferences on shoulder carry vs backpack (2 strap). I carry both and usually like to put my ammo in a separate bag/case. But, I’m in the market for something larger.

I have a bag that I picked up at a Gun Show. It is about like the Midway Competition Range Bag.
About the same size different arrangement of the compartments
It will hold 4-6 Pistols just fine plenty of room for ammo, 2 pair of muffs.
Oiler tube and other misc. items.
It is all nylon, heavy zippers, I have had it about ten years, and still looks good.
I was at the range weekly for about 8 years.
Funny I just loaded it up with 4 pistols ammo and other stuff for a trip to the range this morning.
I don' get to the range as often since I moved to SC,
When I was in FL I had a friend that liked to shoot as much or more than me.
We went shooting almost every Monday.
He went to shoot Sporting Clays every Wednesday.
We went to a Gun Show most Saturdays. They were in rotation all over, most of them within 50 miles.

Room for different mags is an absolute necessity for me, I'm also looking for a good range bag, not some hipster millennial backpack style, just a carry bag, decided I want pouches on the outside for mags, room for at least two guns inside along with a small tupperware of ammo for matches, a bigger pouch outside for cleaning and disassembly stuff....hard to find just the 'perfect' bag....

I think the first question here is how many guns/divisions are you planning to shoot? 2 guns vs 9 will have vastly different requirements. I shoot 9 divisions and have the Midway bag from Post #5 and it is full of just mags and some support gear. The pistols go into individual cases and everything goes into a wagon for transport.

I'd be looking at 4 guns for the most part. Unlikely to be more than that.

I've been very pleased with this one from Voodoo Tactical. It's a little larger than range bags I've had in the past, but I figured you can always carry less stuff in a large bag, vs. more stuff in a small bag.

Anything not tactical looking. If you’re staying in a hotel, you don’t want strangers to realize you have guns with you. The big box tool bags shown by others are a good choice. I prefer a well used rolling carry on bag. Not only doesn’t scream “guns inside” but the wheels save my antique back. It also looks like I don’t have extra money to spend.
