recommendation for which light-model for gen 3 G23 stock

Just got my 1st Glock Love it.!
I have a Gen 3\23 due to living in (CaliComiFornia) and non-Leo's cant buy gen 4-5's.
I would appreciate recommendations for
- What light and model works best for the stock G3 23 setup. No holster.

From what I've read so far, most lights would stick out a bit and turn turn black when fired.? Would picatinny be needed or is stock rail suffice?

Thanks

I use a Streamlight TLR-3 on G23s and is plenty of light for most situations. Pretty even with end of barrel or just over. I save my TLR1-HL for full size guns.

2 suggestions:
1. Just go ahead and get the extra strong springs for the magazines. For me and others, that made the Gen 3 G23 reliability issues (failure to feed, jams) with a WML (weapon mounted light) a non-issue! As advised above, shoot it to confirm.
2. For range time, electrical tape around and over the lens of light will keep off the black deposits. For defensive use don't worry about deposits. And I actually found the deposits weren't too bad nor hard to clean if I forgot the tape for just 1 range session.

Thank you, (off-Topic) I noticed first attempt to load mags using the Glock OEM provided mag loader, it wont permit loading. (.40) No way to sunday...
Could the 10 rd Glock Mag in combination with Pearce Grip mag ext on it be causing it? tried the other mag and same negative result.

I want to emphasize one point that Folsom_Prison and I made, since it is important and you did not comment or ask about our suggestions.

There is a known issue (not necessarily acknowledged by Glock) with Gen 3 G23 & G22, with after market WML's changing frame/slide harmonics and causing reliability issues ... failure to feed a round mostly, or jams. There will be no issue shooting without a WML, but with a WML many people (but not every one) have gotten the issue. I had the problem at multiple positions in every or every other magazine.

For me and my Gen 3 G23, it was worse the higher the capacity the mag I used. So I don't know if it will be a problem with your 10 round mags. It might also be affected by which light you select.

Hence, Folsom's suggestion to try your gun/WML/ammo combination ( at least 5 or 10 full mags) to convince yourself that you don't have the problem and you are good to go.

If you find the problem with your combination, then my suggestion was to go to the stronger mag springs. That resulted in a complete elimination of the problem and 100% reliabilty for me in my Gen 3 G23's 13 and 15 round mags. You'll have to check if they make stronger springs for the reduced capacity 10 round mags.

Hope this explanation helps.

Must be a 40 thing, I’ve never had any issue with my 9’s.

My favorite pistol light is the Streamlight TLR-1. I prefer the regular one, not the HL. When you hit a light colored wall, it’s too bright and blinds you. The regular is just right, but still very bright.

Yes, that's all, just the home and outer perimeter. Any that are combos with laser's worth anything? - Thanks , looking.
I’m not a huge fan of lasers on handguns. However, I cane across a really good deal on a used Streamlight TLR2 a while back at a pawn shop. It was too good of a deal to pass up and I picked it up.

It’s the best light/laser combo out there IMO.

Agreed. I have the TLR-2 HL G and it is an incredible unit and the green laser is very bright and will not get washed out by that 800 lumens.

For the OPs G23, I would look at the Olight Pl-mini as another poster mentioned. Fits my G19 like it was custom made for it. I wouldn’t even bother with the 2nd version, just get the original one with 400 lumens. Very bright and white, nice focused beam. The best light if it is going on a carry gun. The TLR7 is another good one for carry. Also flush with the G19/G23 so no need for cleaning.

For strictly a house gun, just go for the TLR1 HL or TLR2 HL G if you want a laser. How much are you actually going to shoot with it anyway? Just take it off when you go to the range.
