This is my first in-depth review of any of my guns so please bear with me if I sound like a rookie at this.

Two days ago I picked up my brand new CZ P07 Duty pistol. Although, if I were absolutely technical I would call it the CZ 75 P07 Duty 9mm polymer frame pistol.

Initial impressions
I currently own several polymer frame pistols and this one is as good as if not better than the others. There is no slide play and the finish is superb. The gun came with two 16 round magazines but no night sights. One feature that I found unique is the additon of a textured surface on both sides of the slide below the ejection port. This struck me as a bit weird at first but after firing over 200 rounds I can tell you that I find this feature to be a real asset for finger placement when shooting. YMMV but I thought this was a nice touch. And the MSRP is right at $500 so it will be a strong competitor for the Glock and S&W market (my opinion only).

Disassembly
Taking this gun apart is only slightly different than your standard 1911-style pistol. There are two witness marks: one on near the end of the slide and one on the frame near the beavertail. In order to disassemble the pistol you first line up these marks (moving the slide about 1/8 an inch rearward will line up the marks) and then remove the slide stop. Next, you rack the slide and let it travel forward to remove it. This seems a bit awkward at first but it takes only one or two times to master this.

One interesting feature is that this gun comes with a decocker lever installed but includes the parts for a safety only. This will appeal to the cocked-and-locked crowd, and the installation of this part is about a 5 minute process (thank you Youtube). FWIW, I left my gun in the decocker configuration.

Shooting
This has, by far, the nicest trigger (out of the box) of any gun I have ever fired. This is a SA/DA gun and the trigger is as smooth as glass with a very clean reset. There was no over travel and no gritty feeling that I honestly expected. I had two other people at the range try it (the RSO and a fellow shooter) and both were astounded at how clean the trigger broke. I don't have any way to measure the pounds for DA/SA so I'll defer to the website for that information. But I can tell you that this gun was truly a joy to shoot. And the recoil, well, it was less than my other polymer guns (S&W, FNS, and Glock).

Performance
I fed this gun everything and it just looked back at me and smiled. I used 100 rounds of white box ammo from Wal-Mart - no problems. I then tried 100 rounds of Federal ammo (again from Wal-Mart) and still no problems. Finally, I ran 50 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense rounds (my normal carry ammo) through it with no issues. And in all cases I was shooting 2.5" groups at 10 yards all day long. This isn't great accuracy but I blame it on me and not the gun. I think that over time I will definitely see much tighter groups.

Final thoughts
This gun is a very surprising (and welcome) addition to my growing collection. And I can honestly say that once I get a holster for it it'll serve a lot of time as my EDC gun. I would strongly recommend this gun to anyone in the markert for a medium-sized pistol for either home defense or concealed-carry. The bottom line is that this gun is a keeper for me.

Apologies
Of all the gear I took to the range with the intent to write this, I forgot my camera. Boy did I feel stupid after laying out all of my gear and noticed that Ididn't have my cam. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back to the range soon for pics.

I have one of the early P07 Duty handguns. It has the slight polymer bulge the P07 is famous for and the factory sights are cheap in my opinion. But...... It is reliable and very accurate for a handgun of its size. I love my Glocks, SA's, and M&P's but the P07 is one of my favorites. CZ recently upgraded the polymer formula and made the recoil spring a captured version as opposed to the original non-captured. I kept the de-cocker on mine also since I like the feature on my Baby Eagle/Jericho as well.

I've never really been big on CZ firearms but this one interests me a lot. CZ makes great guns, I just never really warmed up to them. Maybe this one will change that.

I just may have to pick one up!

Good review by the way! Thanks.

You may be suffering from a severe mental illness, I highly suggest large doses of CZ and you will feel right again no worries.

Obviousy a low "Broz" level. An infusion of CZ at therapuetic levels should provide immediate relief from these pesky symptoms.:therapy:

well, this is my first post on here. i just purchased a cz p07 in OD the other day and its one sweet pistol. measured trigger pull on mine is 3lb. 9 oz SA and 9lb. 2 oz. DA . i was looking to get a m&p 9mm as a match for the m&p .22 i already have here but the cz won me over at the lgs. it only has 300 rounds down the pipe but it hasn't missed a beat. if looking for a pistol in this size its worth a look for sure !!

now to get the trigger on the g21 sf to feel like this:dunno:
