I was wondering how does a j-frame wearing the old school grips shoot? I have looked at wood boot grips but find the shape to be kinda sharp. I found these and am wondering if they be a nice alternative to the rubber boot grips that come stock. This gun is used for both range and SD it mainly shoots 38special.

They shoot great, if you know how to grip a revolver. I use them on my 686, 60, and 637 to make them more concealable, but I also like the feel.

G is right, the best way to use those is with Tyler T Grips.

Now the bad news Tyler is having issues with their company and used ones on i -net auction sites are going crazy price wise. Keep you eyes peeled at gun shows and local shops and you might get lucky and find one for a reasonable price.

Another vote for factory stocks and the T-Grip. I hope they get their business sorted out soon. Heck of a thing to go out of business just when your product is getting hot again.

Stock are fine with a Tyler grip for me.
Will you guys inspired me to get the grips. They just look way to good not to get a set. I cant wait to try them out. I post some pics once I get them installed.

I carry an older J frame, I've kept the skinny original grips on it - mostly for concealment's sake. Not terribly hard to shoot well once you get the grip down. Most standard wheelgun grips are pretty lame.

Among the worst grips ever designed. S&W discovered how to maximize recoil and save money at the same time. Ugly, too small, expose the fingers to bashing; instead, get some decent looking, hand filling aftermarkets and throw those in the dumpster. That's what I did with all of mine.

For decades S&W kept aftermarket grip makers in business because their factory wood was so atrocious.
