Looking for a new single stack 9mm. I have a Kahr CM9 but I've never been able to really get used to the trigger. It breaks a bit too far back for my big hands, I'm always jerking the muzzle to the side just as the trigger breaks. I've been considering the Shield off and on for a while since the trigger doesn't pull as far back. However I missed the recent rebate, and now Walther has a $100 rebate on the PPS M2. Before all the G43 posts, the trigger is pretty much a deal breaker for me plus even with blue label pricing it's almost $100 more than the PPS M2 after rebate.

For me the PPS M2 has better ergos, better trigger, perhaps better build quality, and can get it for around $280 shipped after the rebate. The Shield's advantages are more holster options and accessories, and more importantly 1 more round with pretty much the same height compared to the PPS(and most others like the G43). Normally I wouldn't care much about 1 extra round but when you're talking about 6+1 vs 7+1 it is a pretty big advantage. The Shield does have a few disadvantages like the frame cracking issues they had/have?, the dots falling off the sights, and much shallower slide serrations.

So which would you choose, better ergos and trigger with maybe better build quality or 1 more round? Anyone here have both?

Between the two, I'd go with the Walther. But, the Shied has more aftermarket "stuff" available.

I prefer the Walther, but I'd take the G43 over either of those.
I've always considered Glock triggers to be mediocre at best. The 8 lb trigger most reviewers are reporting for the G42 and G43 is a deal breaker for me. Even if it does improve somewhat with use. At least for me the PPS M2 vs G43 is pretty much the same as the PPS M2 vs Shield but without the extra round advantage of the Shield, and perhaps without the questionable build quality. PPS M2 still has better ergos and trigger. Plus after rebate almost $100 less compared to blue label G43, and close to $200 less than regular price G43.

Curious why the G43? From what I recall of your older posts you used to be a fan of the P99 and perhaps to a lesser extent the PPQ. And didn't seem to think there was anything particularly special about Glock. From your more recent posts you don't seem to be much of a fan of the PPQ and apparently the PPQ M2. Any particular reason for the change of opinion?

I have a newer G43 and the trigger is about perfect for me. I understand the older G43's trigger was a much harder pull. It appears Glock improved the pull.

I completely understand your feeling on the CM9 couldn't get used to the trigger on my sample either.

But the PPS M2 sounds like a really good deal and I'd be hard pressed to turn that price down. Don't own one but it is my understanding is the trigger on the M2 is very nice.

When I run this through the Powernoodle Cost/Benefit Analyzer, the PPS wins. There are plenty of holsters for the PPS, and while 1x extra round in the Shield matters, its not a deal breaker. You'll still have 2x or 3x as many rounds in the PPS as the average defensive encounter requires, and a spare mag on the weak side belt always makes us feel better.

PPS. Boom.

And honestly, it doesn't really matter. You will be well served by any of the single stack plastic striker guns. I own and carry most of them, though not yet the PPS.

I had both and picked them over the G43 after shooting them to see which one I liked better. Both very reliable and accurate and I had no functional issues or frames cracking. Only reason I don't have them any longer is because I have the Shield 45 as my single stack weapon. Same size and capacity but a has bigger pop. If you can, shoot them side by side to see which one is the best one for you.

Of the two, the Walther...twice, because today is Sunday, and I believe it to be a better pistol.

I had a shield but sold it recently and purchased the new Springfield Armory XD-E single stack. I like the DA/SA setup with the safety/decocker for safe CC. Is runs very well and is accurate. I like the 8 or 9 round mags (9mm) and of all the pistols I have the XD series is one of my favorites. In my opinion, the triggers are just right and far better (for me at least) than the stock Glocks I own. My only add on is Talon rubber texture grip which go on all of my pistols. Just my 2 cents worth.

Now I have never had a Shield and even though I have trigger time on it, I cant speak for it. I did have a Walther PPS M2 and thought it was an excellent gun out of the box. Now I ended up selling my single stack 9's except for my G43. My G43 is modded to suit my needs, stippled grip, +2 TT base plates, polished internals, 3.5lb Ghost connecter, etc. But out of the box, hard to beat the PPS M2 IMO.

I've owned two shields and just couldn't warm up to them. So out of your choices I'd go pps

XDS is another option. Great gun

Had two shields, the walther and the cm9. Sold everything except one of the shields since it's still new in box. I'm thinking of trading it in towards a 43. Shot a friend's and like it better. Wonder what the gun store will give me.

I had a shield ($299.00 LE price) and took it to the range twice. I hated the trigger. Traded it for a PPS M2 which I really like. It is just aboui 3/4" shorter than my g19. Some love the shield son try them both before you decide
