Hey guys. I have a small electronic pistol safe made by stack on. It can hold two handguns and some other valuables. It came with thin foam padding, is the foam ok or should I replace it with some other material. Thank for any replies.

Dunno...I leave my pistols in their foam cases and it seems to work OK. Purists will differ.

Maybe lay down a silicone-impregnated cloth ontop of the foam??.

It's perfectly fine IMO. I don't see it causing any potential problems unless perhaps you live in an extremely humid or coastal region and neglect/don't maintain your gun. I'd put a desiccant packet in the safe. If you're overly worried about it, you could simply replace it with some closed-cell foam(doesn't hold moisture). http://www.foambymail.com/VA/polyethylene-foam-roll.html

The foam that came with your safe won't hurt it so long as everything remains dry. Some solvents can melt foam and that can create problems, and in a moist environment, rust can form where the foam contacts the metal and retains moisture. Generally, your foam will be just fine.

I have a small Sentry safe that's useful for pistols and magazines, and use it for some temporary storage. I have a rack in part of it that's for the pistols, and another as a magazine holder or carrier; both are made from dense foam floor matting (you'll find it as a five pack at Harbor Freight for nine bucks or so). A little time with a utility knife and a hot glue gun. The pictures show the safe, the magazine carrier, then the carrier in place in front of several glocks in the safe.
