Uncle Mike's Sidekick Ambidextrous Hip Holster, Black, 3 3/4" - 4 1/2" Barrel Large Autos

i bought this from cheaper than dirt and wanted to share some pics. when i was researching this holster, all i could find were stock photos that didn't really show more than one angle. so i took a few pics and thought i'd share for anyone else thinking about the same holster.

their application chart says a size 16 will work, but the next size up (size 15) is a tight fit as-is. i can't imagine a size 16 will work with both gun and spare mag at the same time.

holster on the left, strap in the middle, and strap adjusting tool on the right:

other side of holster:

with g29sf and spare mag, it's a tight fit:

the belt clip comes right-handed. it'll be a pain in the ass to switch it to left-handed due to the little lip at the clip's bottom:

I never could figure out the need for a mag pouch on the holster itself. I suppose its better than nothing, but wouldn't you want your spare magazine on your offside? Not the same side you just drew your pistol from? Seems like one of those entry level gimmick holsters to me. I want my ammo separate from my holster. It's how my duty belt is set up and it's how I carry daily.

Exactly. Trying to think of logistics of a slide-stop or tactical reload:

1) Transfer gun to week hand, retrieve mag, insert mag with the hand that is not used to inserting mags, transfer gun back to strong hand, release slide.

or

2) Release slide (if emergency slide-lock), holster gun, retrieve mag, transfer mag to week hand, draw gun, insert mag and off you go.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Otherwise the holster generally looks pretty useful.

Thanks novasquid for posting photos.

I use those holsters a lot for transport storage. And short term storage or as night stand holster. I never carry with them. Nor do I use them at the range. The only pistol I have that draws out of one worth a darn is the 4" 686P. And to be honest it's poor at best.

Right now I have my M&P45 and a loaded mag in the nightstand holstered in one. The wife keeps her 60 Pro holstered in her nightstand with one.

I like that they are washable and have mag holder and very cheap basic weapon protection. And they really aren't hard to set up IMO.

The strap and thumb break are held in with a velcro like system. There are small teeth on the backside of the strap and thumb break and velcro patches on both sides of the holster. You push that plastic marked ruler up under the martial that covers most of the velcro and slide the strap and thumb break in from the top and position for your pistol. Then pull the plastic ruler out. The strap and ruler then lock into the velcro. I could pull the strap and thumb break out if I wanted to hurt myself, ruin the holster or both. They lock in pretty good. And the belt clip goes in and out the same way for the most part. Except you slide it in over the top of the bottom lip. Wiggle the plastic ruler a tad to get it started and pull the belt clip out.

Some of mine I left the belt clip in so I can clip the holster to a bed rail or a part of my desk at home or work. Or sometimes I clip them to a metal strap I have on a work bench.

There a good cheap holster for everything holster wise except carry.
