Pearce Grip +2 .45/10mm PG-1045+ ?

Has anyone tried these new Pearce Grip +2s (PG-1045+), specifically on either a G29 or 30 yet? (they ONLY fit nine round G30 mags BTW, NOT regular 10 round G30 mags)

Image

I did not like the way they looked initially when they released them (especially on either a G21 or 20 (they DO fit full size .45/10mm mags also just fine), but I have some of the older Pearce +2s for the .45/10mm mags, and they have discontinued them for these now that I want some more of them. :(

Also, in my never ending quest for a comfortable G30 mag plate extension, I'm hoping maybe these will feel better on a nine round G30 mag than the old school Pearce 10 round G30 ones have felt in my hands as of late too. They just don't feel as comfortable in my hands anymore, and never have as much as either a G19 grip (which is just a little taller) or a full size G21 or G20 does (I have really big fingers and hands BTW).

Just installed a PG-1045 on my G30S. Adds only 1 round (total 10) instead of 2 rounds as advertised, but gives a longer grip than the standard 10 rounder... with or without a Pearce piece.

I really like the 9 rounders on the G30 series. But when I go to a "full grip" length, I needed the extra length for my pinky, & the PG-1045 is just right for me. The standard 10 rounders are too short. I have fairly large hands, too.

I now use the G30S for a house gun, with a G21 13 round mag & an X-Grip mag adapter.... looks sorta like a G19X in .45 ACP. :dancingbanana:

Yeah, I was playing with one of my old G21 mags with the old Pearce +2 on it in my G30 this AM and laughing at the same thing - " Hey look! A G30X" LOL :) :) :)

I bought a Pearce PG-1045+ and the Glockmeister GM1045PLUS2 for testing late last year. I'm always interested in new mag configs for the G30/30SF/30S. I wanted to know if either of these new items worked reliably for an 11-rnd option together with the OEM 9-rnd mag.

The results of my experiments are described in the footnotes of my recently updated article in the G30/30SF/30S library at Glock Talk, titled "Wide Variety of Mag Options for Glock 30," and excerpted below for review.

Footnotes

1. The Glockmeister +2 extension (GM1045PLUS2) is the best option for this 11-rnd application because it's ~8 mm deeper than the Pearce +2 extensions (PG-1045+ or the older and now discontinued PG-G45P2). Although it adds about 5/16" more length to the mag compared to the Pearce extensions, the Glockmeister +2 extension with supplied magazine insert can readily hold 11 rounds when installed on the G30 9-rnd mag with no apparent separation of mag and floorplate when fully loaded.

The Pearce PG-1045+ is better than the old Pearce PG-G45P2 for this application. However, I found it was necessary to install the PG-1045+ extension without the supplied magazine insert to have enough space to load 11 rounds with a new 9-rnd mag and using an UpLULA ammo loader. Even taking the drastic step of shaving out the retaining tabs at the bottom, interior of the PG-1045+ to get more room still resulted in a slight separation of the floorplate from the mag when fully loaded with 11 rounds which is far from ideal.

Also consider the G30 9-rnd mag with PG-1045+ extension for an alternate 10-rnd mag (downloading one round) as a substitute for the OEM 10-rnd mag. You may like the better angle of the PG-1045+ extension relative to the grip, Gen4 texture, and more room for the pinky finger (less pinching) with a ledge at the bottom instead of the OEM 10-rnd mag floorplate. With the PG-1045+ installed, it will load 10+1 more easily in a tight pistol that has trouble with the OEM 10-rnd mag loaded to capacity. The 9-rnd mag with PG-1045+ floorplate is 1/2 inch longer at the very front compared to the OEM 10-rnd mag and floorplate, but the same length at the rear of the mags.

I was actually hoping you were one of the people the replied when I posted this, knowing your history and info here for the G30 platform. :)

I've used the older Pearce +2 .45s on my G21 mags forever and never had an issue. Aside from them now no longer being available though, I WAS glad to see that they now offer them with the insert for just a little added reassurance that the the place locks in place 100% (again even though I've NEVER had an issue with them on my G21 mags).

Regardless, I also decided to try them not only because I now have two additional G21 mags I may wind up carrying as spares and want a full 15 rounds per mag. I also seem to have this weird thing now with carrying my G30 with the factory 10 round and Pearce 10 round plate on it that is just not as comfortable as I remember it being with my previous G30 in the early 2000's. :( I'm hoping these new Pearce +2 .45 extensions (PG-1045+) give me just a little more to make it just as comfortable as the G19 size frame and G21/20 frame does in my hand. If so it might almost be enough to get me to consider a G29 eventually, but that's a long way off right now. I'm still not 100% sold on being able to control a 29 enough to use it for a carry gun vs either a full size 20 or just sticking with a G30 as is.

Thanks for the input GRT45, appreciate it as always. :) :) :)

So I got my new +2 Pearce "PG-1045+" on Friday and I just wanted to reiterate a little of what GRT45 had said in the previous post # 5 of this thread -

First of all I found the same thing, I could not get the 11th round in the factory G30 nine round mag either, and this was an older nine round G30 I have had for sometime fully loaded and inserted in the gun, so the mag should have softened up some by now I would have thought? :( I'm sure it will loosen up some more in time and allow the 11th round in it with the new Pearce +2 on it (old school Glock 10 round mags were famous for finally doing this after sitting loaded long enough, especially when left IN the gun fully loaded, it just takes time is all).

I have not been able to shoot the gun with nine round mag and new extension on it yet, and I honestly can not tell yet or not whether or not I like the additional real estate on the base plate or not vs the old school Pearce 10 round G30 plate, so the jury is still out on that one for me. I CAN tell you that if you DON'T like the old Pearce plate for the 10 round G30 mag that this new plate on the nine round mag IS the answer for you then.

Here's some pics for comparison (these are my two twin G30's :)), and remember, this new +2 base plate WILL also work on G29 mags and give you a +2 on them also :) -

Here's the same two mags with a factory G30 10 round mag thrown in for reference. (Glock factory 10 round, Pearce +2 on a nine round mag, Pearce 10 round mag)

I'll report back which on I shoot best with, although I am also still working trying to see if I can find a way to be able to shoot the gun with either a flat factory plate on the nine round G30 mag in it, or a flat replacement mag in the flat "Gee Plate" design like they offer for the G42,43 and 26.

Hope this helps someone -

Eric :)

Well I finally tried the newer Pearce "PG-1045+" floorplate on one of my G30 nine round mags this afternoon and I can tell you that I unfortunately do NOT like it. Fit and finish are the usual perfect Pearce product (no problem there) and while they DO give me more area for my pinky and a better overall grip that I had hoped for, they just don't seem to "land my fingers" where I need them to be as far as stacking them up. :(

What I mean by this is my fingers all seem to just line perfectly up where they stack up and there is enough room for them on something like a G19. The just "fit right" and grip is damn near perfect on them. With the PG-1045+ there is enough area, but the "fit" is just off. :( I find a little of the same with Pearce's 10 baseplate for the factory G30 ten round mag, but it's just a little "tighter" and my fingers just seem to land a little better on those baseplates, giving my a better and almost "tighter / better stacked grip" on the gun with them.

I tried it three or four times with both style of mags (factory G30 nine round with the new PG-1045+ plate and the factory G30 mag and older Pearce G30 ten round plate) and even just the factory G30 nine round mag and standard factory FLAT plate on it.

I just seem to shoot the G30 ten round mag with the Pearce 10 round plate on it better than I do any of the others (it just seems to give me a better hold on the little thumping G30 :) and I was even more supprised to see how well I shot the factory G30 nine round mag in it's original, flat plate configuration also!! :) :) :)

I don't think the new Pearce PG-1045+ is a bad product, it just does not work (for me), where as their other G30 product does. :) :) :)

Hope this helps -

Eric,

I tried them on a Gen4 G-29 and did not like them. As you said in your last post, the pinky just doesn't land. I removed them and replaced them with +0 Pearces and they feel much better to me. I actually prefer the pinky under the stock mag over the feeling of the +2. This is my opinion for my pistol and my hands, YMMV. Also, I like the feel of the 10rd G-30 mags much better than the +1/+2 extensions.

Keith,
Did you use the Pearce +0 PG-29 on your 4th Gen? I did not realize they would fit a Gen 4 but that is what I am looking for. Please let me know, thanks

I just got my 1045 in and for me I really like it for my 30. I have a lot of different bases and mag configurations and this to me is the best. I just ordered another. If I need more ammo in the gun the 21 mag with the X Grip is what I use. I never fully compress my mag springs and always fill one less round in all of my mags. But for as far as bases for carrying my 30sf this is the one for me.
