Yes they are the same, as long as they share the same number on them. When Gen5 mags were somewhat scarce I would buy Gen4 mags and change the follower and floorplate. Followers were identical including the number, just different color.

Yep, color is the only difference. Still made me wonder even a color change didn‘t necessitate a number change.

 

These are both exactly the same, same number, only different color.

 

My G45 came with 1 black follower in the gun and 2 orange followers in the case.

 

The orange followers means the mag has an air-tag in it. That way they can track you.

I see the #7 followers #1812 or #5233 (orange) are out-of-stock at many/all the parts suppliers. Many of my existing mags' followers are still the older #5 or #6 (I don't think I have any mags with #4 but might). I wonder if the #7 followers will somehow feed just a bit better. I'm on the suppliers' notification waiting lists. I'll probably buy some if I'm in the mood to spend, yet, more money once they come back into stock.

My understanding is each change to the follower gets a new number sequentially. Perhaps someone from Glock can weigh in. Regards.
