So I've been looking at optics and I stumbled across these. Ever heard of them/used one? It is just for recreational (range) use on a S&W M&P15 MOE, so I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg. These fit in my price range.

Also, does anyone have any alternative ideas?

I have the first sight you listed, but I only paid $69 for it.

I have a Strikefire on my sons AK and it's a much better sight.

Of the 3 you listed I'd probably get the Burris just based upon their reputation.

Onebadaxe,

I checked into that Primary Arms red dot, but that one and a few others were out of stock...

Vafish - did you like the Barska 1x30 Electro Sight Riflescope (first one I listed) that you said you had?

It works, I haven't broken it yet, and so far it has held zero just fine. But I've only put probably 300 rounds of .223 through it and a several thousand .22LR in a Ciener conversion kit.

I'm not to thrilled with the "Ranging Reticule" on it. I haven't tried shooting it at any distance past 100 yards so I don't know how well it works, but it just makes the sight to busy for me.

That and it just doesn't feel like a $160 sight to me. Like I said I paid $69 or so for it and at that price it was fine.

I had a $50 gift card to Dicks Sporting goods given to me at work and I ordered this Centerpoint Red Dot sight. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2885370

I like it better than the Barska. It comes with rings but they are probably too low for most AR15's.

One thing I don't like about all of the cheap red dot sights is that they use the little coin type batteries and go through them pretty quickly.

We have our Micro Dot and AR riser in stock. Under $90 better than ones costing much much more.

Marshall

Marshall, can you tell me the differences between the Micro Dot and the M3 clone? Also, will you be getting the M3 clones in again?

Thanks
Full size vs Micro size reallly the big difference. The M3 style works in 30mm mounts. Micro is Aimpoint T-1 mounts. The Micro is our best seller but the M3 a close second.

Plenty of M3 style on order but late March at best for delivery.

Vafish -

What's the ranging reticule look like? I can't find a picture. I mean is it just a red dot, crosshair, or the two dot reticules or circle and dot?

I have the Vortex strikefire and I paid about $160 for it. I used it in a carbine class and the dot turned off under recoil. I jury-rigged the battery compartment and finished the course. I'll never bet my life on its reliability though. Vortex sent me a new one but I would have rather got my money back.

You should check out the IOR Valdada red dot. I think you could probably get it from Scott at Libertyoptics.com for less than what amazon wants for the Burris and its a much better sight. If you call him ask for his best price. Its usually less than listed on the website.

Aimpoint, Primary Arms, and Vortex in that order. Midway has the L9000 for 275.00 now. They had the SC9000 for 225.00 last fall. Worth the wait over number 2 and 3 ranked products.

By the way, when you open the manual for an Aimpoint and read the specs, they list the electronic and structural component specs. Then there is a line that says "applies to all products" You really do get what you pay for.

I have 2 of the Barska 30mm cheapies and for regular shooting at the range, they have held up just fine on my Mini-30 and Bushmaster M17. For my M4gery though, it's EOTech because in the Zombie Wars, we don't take prisoners and second place finishers are called dinner.
