This isnt exactly a pocket notebook. Those are still gonna be carried. These are a specific kind of book which serves nothing but redundancy with certain technologies.

My agency did away with them back in December. Much to my amazement as well.
I guess I misunderstood. I thought it was referring to the pad of paper (I always had one in my shirt pocket) where you jot down field notes and other things that needed remembered or noted more quickly than I could go get a big notebook.

I have never thrown a notepad away.
further I will never not use pen and paper.
the very rare situation being when I forgot it in car and need a name ran then and there... I will jot on my hand.
I made a habit of copying my field notes and submitting the copies with my paperwork. There are at least a few copies of my hand with writing on it. You can’t read them very easily, but my notes were submitted!
