I've said this before. I had a conversation with one of the producers of the show. He explained that the only way they could get it on the air was to film it that way. You'll also notice that when there were car crashes or explosions you always see the people getting up or saying they are okay. That was for the same reason.

"I PITY THE FOOL WHO HATES ON THE MINI" !!!

🙂

Congratulations on your Mini.

I'm not one of the Mini Haters as our SWAT in the early 80s deployed with Mini's before Uncle Sugar decided to use grants to send out a deluge of M16s to local LE. The US Marshal's SRT, with which we trained, used them as well.

So it wasn't just the A Team and prison guards using Rugers back in the day.

Yes, I think the AR platform is a better system, for a number of reasons, but I don't hate on the Ruger. They worked, and worked well.

Enjoy your rifle. Thanks for sharing it.

Very cool. Amazing how we are influenced by TV/movies. I've almost bought a derringer just because Jim West used them on Wild Wild West (the Robert Conrad series, not Will Smith movie). I did buy a coach gun after watching Tombstone.

HA! I was looking at a 45/70 sharps when the Quigley movie came out. In less than 2 weeks you couldn't find one anywhere and the price of Shilo Sharps shot up along with their waiting period.
Some years later I bought a Pedrisoli (sp) Had a great time with it. A few years ago I gave it to my brother as he wanted it in the worst way. I see that Shilo is still asking top dollar and the waiting period is still 1-2 years.

I"ve owned three Mini's in the past. Sold each of them because I couldn't decent accuracy with them. I wrote Ruger a letter detailing loads used (including factory Federal Match ammo), groups fired, range distances used, etc, and received a very nice letter in return.

Ruger explained that the factory standard for the Mini was four MOA. 4 MOA!. About four inch groups at 100 yards, 8 inch at 200 yds, etc. I admit my Mini's were functional, worked well, looked good, etc, but the accuracy just wasn't there.

I understand the latest edition of the Mini is a lot better, but I'll just stick with another platform.

OP, you do have a nice-looking setup, though!

We should probably break this out as a separate thread....BUT....

I figured out a long time ago, satisfaction with the Mini-14 is how you view the rifle.

If a buyer sees the rifle as a competitor for the AR-15 they will probably NEVER be happy.

Now days I tend to look at the Ruger as a modernized and improved M-1 Carbine.

Figure a 2-300 yard rifle with superb reliability, chambered in a far superior caliber.

Once you do, a buyer will likely be much happier..

Always liked and wanted a mini 14 particularly when they cost $250 back in the day. But I had no use for the 223 cartridge. When the Mini 30 in 7.62x39 came out I finally bought one because it could be used for deer hunting. It did make a decent brush gun and I've killed some deer with mine. It's about 40 years old now. I rarely if ever hunt with it but its an old friend.

Accuracy, it has been reported, slips only when the barrel is heated. So, avoid mag dumps and accuracy is as good as I can handle. Work within the intended purpose, and the Mini-30 performs perfectly. Expect a 1500 meter sniper candidate and you will be disappointed.

I have had NO failures with my 30, and asking it to digest any kind of junk 7.62 I could find. BUT, I am not asking it to process 500 rounds in a shooting session either.
