My choice is clear. I own a G22. I do not own a 19X. I can't shoot a gun I don't own. In all seriousness, what possible difference could it make?

 

19X would be my choice. I’m mostly a 9mm guy and my G45 sits on the nightstand most of the time with 19+1 124gr HST in it with a 31 round stick in the nightstand with WWB fmj 124gr nato loaded. That’s some quick access capacity. I just always figured that if something is happening in the house , more than likely it’ll be multiple attackers.

 

I own both. My G22.4 loaded with 180 grain HST serves night stand duty since I retired in 2018. While my G19X is a favorite gun, I like a larger hole in the barrel for SD/HD. Our home is also protected by a Ruger .357 magnum, a G37 in .45 GAP, and an 870 12 gauge, and if I have been out and about my EDC G27 is usually still attached to my belt.

 

19x is on my nightstand. I have a 22, but it is a fish gill model so I'm keeping it NIB for a grandson, silly maybe but what the heck.

Either one should more than suffice.

I do carry the 19x from time to time.

Good 9mms are acceptable but that’s about it for me. My night stand is a g20. Given your options I would roll with the g22.

 

22. My thinking:

• .40 is more effective than 9mm, maybe not by much, but it is.
• Not CCW so size doesn't matter, why bother with a shorter barrel?
• A corollary to the above, I never got the mullet gun thing. I'd get the 17 over the 19X/45 for this use, but I'd get a 22 or 35 over the 17.

 

Both are good choices, I just prefer the .40.

Currently 9 to 4 in favor of the G22.

 

40 S&W Glock 22 - because I'm not "small stature", or weak wrist. 😁

 

.40 S&W far outweighs an extra 4 rounds of 9mm and bth guns have far more rounds than you are ever likely to use. Use the one that will do the most damage.

Don't have any .40 so I would pick the 19x. If I shot them both the same in timed drills and was waste deep in ammo for both I would pick the 22.

 

Whichever I shot better. Beyond that they both do the same thing.

 

I am with alnico I don’t own a 19x.
G-22 all night long for me.

 

G19x. Easier to find, in the dark. Otherwise, six of one, half a dozen of the other.

 

I would check both boxes, with weapon light, good jhp doesn't really matter.

 

I've got one of those 22-round mags. I never used it as far as I can remember but I suppose it would be useful as a spare.

 

For a long time my night stand gun was a G22.2, but then one night we had a raccoon in the chicken pen that needed killlin'. a WML would have been helpful, so I bought one and put it on my G19.3 (no rail on the G22) and it has been in my night stand ever since.
It only has a 15 round magazine though. and that is more than enough. I run out, my wife will already have hers ready by then, and she generally only needs one shot. Don't piss off Suzy!

 

I voted G-22, because the .40 is a more capable man-stopper. The X comes with good night sights and can put more bullets into a smaller target in less time. I like them both, shoot them both, but if my life depends on it I'm going with bigger.

 

I have both and the G19X replaced my my G22 as my night stand gun. I’m faster on follow up shots and more accurate with the G19X, plus 4 additional rounds of HST make it a no brainer in my view.

 

In 2021 any 9mm Hollow Point is good to go.
