i am hoping to have the good luck on finalizing a deal on an original Bren Ten. I’d like to shoot it occasionally...maybe 50 rounds a year or so, but I’ve read online horror stories about cracked slides. For those of you who own one, what do you think?

I have 3 that I bought new. They are fired occasionally with lighter hand loads. Keep in mind that parts are very hard to come by. One of mine slung her cross bolt safety (very early model). If not for a very talented gunsmith she would be a paperweight.

Too cool a gun not to shoot. I’d certainly stick to milder loads.

What is the point of owning one if you can't shoot it, or only being able to shoot mild loads? 10mm was designed to blow up worlds!

Keep your loads light, FBI like and get yourself a Witness in Wonderfinish to shoot heavy loads in. Call Henning and ask him what parts you need to keep your Witness working well with full 10MM loads.

Or a Tanfoglio/Witness Limited Pro, which is the closest appearance to a Bren Ten out there. Soon to be re-imported by Italian Firearms Group.

I might add that the frame cracking issues occurred mostly with the original Norma loadings. These were extremely high pressure rounds. I don't understand the physics but with modern powders the same velocities can be reached with lower chamber pressures. I still have some 30 year old Norma 200 gr solid and 170 gr HP ammo. With both the recoil is ridiculous.

There is one on GB chambered in 45acp. Description says only 250 were made. Don't know if you would be interested or not but it is rare if the only 250 made is true.

That’s the Bren Marksman. Only about 1500 Bren Tens were built in total

Once you receive it, you'll need to hunt down a copy of Ron Carrillo's book, Bren Ten: The Heir Apparent, a definitive history of the Bren Ten pistol, the 10mm AUTO cartridge, and the various personalities involved with both.
