It has been 10 plus years since I shot a pistol (shotgun guy) and have decided to pick this back up. I have researched both the G43X MOS and G19X MOS to death it seems like and will shoot both of those this week at the local indoor range. I have pretty much convinced myself to buy both.

I really like the looks of the G19X MOS for its Coyote color and overall reviews it receives running around YouTube. What I don’t care for is the threaded barrel as I don’t own a suppressor and don’t see myself ever buying one. Given my advanced state of age (67) I do see the value in optics so there is that.

All of the G19X MOS guns I have looked at come with the threaded barrel with the exception being two examples I found on the Glock Store & Davidsons websites. Can the G19X MOS be ordered with a non-threaded barrel from Glock or LGS?

The G19X MOS comes with the Ameriglo Suppressor Height Sights that leads me to believe this is a requirement for a suppressor. Are these sights also required for the optics with no suppressor?

Thanks for any clarity you can provide me with on those two questions.

I know this won’t help much. I have the 19X and love it. I think it’s one of Glocks better ideas. Mine is NOT MOS, as I don’t like optics even at 74 years old. All my guns have iron sights only. The 19X did come with iron night sights, standard height.

I just chimed in to say, “Ecellent shooter.” I have a number of Glocks in other calibers and I’m not really a 9mm guy, I prefer 45 or .40 cal, but this 19x is one sweet shooter IMO and glad I bought it.

At least be encouraged with that much info.
As for the rest, have no clue partner. Hope it all works out for ya. Enjoy it. 😉

stay safe and well

If you go with the Holosun SCS-MOS sight, you dont need a plate and the sight attaches directly to the Glocks slide. With that, you dont need suppressor sights with the dot. If you go with the other dots that require a plate, youll likely need the higher sights if you want some soort of cowitness/backup sights.

As far as the suppressor goes, it depends. I dont use suppressor sights with my iron sight guns, and just "shoot through" the suppressor using my three dots and shooting both eyes open. The higher dots usually clear the suppressor, so its not an issue there, but even if it didnt, Id just use it like the irons, and shoot through the can.

All depends on whether or not youre OK with that.

The SCS dots are really the way to go. I just wish they offered them in red. The larger Holosun type sights are fine too, but are a bit bigger and youll probably want different sights, unless you're not worried about backups.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Glock!

You might look at the Glock 45. It's, basically, the civilian version of the G19X.

No threaded barrel and you can get the MOS version (optic ready?) or the plain version.

The only drawback is the G45 sports the base Glock sights.

My G45 is my favorite pistol in my stable with my G48 running a close second.

Hope this helps!

Glock 19X MOS without threaded barrel

The SKU is PX1950S03MOS (larger capacity magazines)

When I was at your same decision point, I went with the plain, non-MOS G19x. No threaded barrel. I sent the slide out to get cut for an RMR Footprint. There are more optic choices I like for direct mounting to that cut. It's due back in a week or so.

Anyway, you really have to experiment with the sights. Some are just barely visible at the bottom of the optic window, some are 1/3 the way up, some are 1/2 way. It really depends on the sight picture you prefer.

I'm sticking with my stock Ameriglo tritium sights until I see how they look through the optic. If I want taller, there are lots of options.

As an aside, I also had a G43 slide cut for RMSc, and I currently have "supressor-height" sights on it with a Holosun 507K optic. Those sights are a bit high for my liking, about 1/2 into the window, but I've got everything co-witnessed and dialed-in, so not in a huge hurry to swap for shorter sights.

Another vote for the Holosun SCS. I'm patiently waiting for someone to have a sale on them, so I can purchase another one.

Regarding the 19X, the people I know with one really like it. When running drills, it seems to be their go-to gun. I like them, but I'm not a fan of the color, so I have a plain 19 MOS.

Personally, I would buy the gun with the threaded barrel and just buy a non-threaded aftermarket barrel too. I know you said that you have no intentions to buy a suppressor, but you never know. Once the $200 tax in gonzo and if the court challenges are successful to remove suppressors from the NFA, buying one will be a very simple procedure and they will be widely available, so you might change your mind down the road. Plus, it also leaves the door open if you ever decide to add a compensator to reduce the recoil instead of a suppressor. Suppressor sights will most likely be required with either the suppressor or an optic. Since there is a plate required to add an optic, it will sit higher, which very well may require suppressor sights to co-witness. If the slide was specifically milled for an optic, often one can use standard height sights, because the optic sits lower. I love that you are leaning towards just buying both guns! Have fun with your purchases and enjoy.

I, likewise, have a 19X with normal iron sights. AND, I love it. It reminds me how Walther took the PPK and "melded" it with a PP and came up with the PPK/S. Same upper gun with a longer grip. The 19X is the same concept and is perfect for my larger hands as they used the 19's slide size with the 17's longer grip. Perfect!
Also, mine does not have a threaded barrel so you can get it the way you are saying you want; normal sights, no threaded barrel.
