Hello all,

I picked up my first Glock (Glock 19 G5) a few months ago and love it.

I have added a:
- SLR Rifleworks Mag Extension
- SLR Rifleworks Magwell
- SLR Rifleworks Back Plate

Currently my Glock is at Odin's Workshop for a hand stipple job

I am looking to get an aftermarket Slide with a RMR Cutout and looking for suggestions.

Ive had my eye on Zev and SLR, what is recommended around here?

I think the aftermarket stuff is a mixed bag. I have seen fire control components go horribly wrong. I have seen crappy mag extensions do speed unloads. I have seen my fare share of RDS fails.

However, there is a happy medium if you keep your head on straight.

I have two piles of Glocks. The ones that get a little TLC, new sights and depending on frame OEM ext slide and mag releases. These are the ones that are in the EDC/Defense pile.

The second pile I go with the above, then add some stainless guide rods with slightly lighter spring rate. Some Dawson extensions. Polished striker safety with reduce spring. Minus connector. These are my game guns and they see a LOT of cycles. Depending on setup, I add a magwell mainly for weight. I have some with conversion barrels, G22/23/35 to 9mm/357 Sig that are wonderful.

At one time I did go a little to far monkeying around with competition light spring kits some extreme trigger components and such. This is when I started noticing the occasional Uh Oh. Maybe a light strike, a double every now and then. The games I play, if something does not work right 100%, it has a very short life span. So, yeah I backed off of some the modifications a good bit. Once you have a light strike or a double in the back of your mind it is not a good thing.

I was not alone, my 2 buddies where doing the same thing and all of us surely mucked up some guns. I can really show you how to make a Glock suck big time. I just wish I had some of the parts $$$ back. You live and learn.

In 100ks of rounds through Glocks I have had 1 - exactly 1 mag extension fail. BTW- It was not a Dawson, but another big name company. It failed hitting the ground, so no gun stoppage. After that failure, I sold the rest and now have gone exclusively Dawson.

I have a donner G34.3 I am getting ready to send off to have the slide milled for DPP. Going to have the milling done to where the dove tail is gone. Its going to be a game gun for USPSA CO and it will have the pile 2 treatment less magwell.
