New G22 MOS Gen 5 or New G21 MOS Gen 5 ?

Both of the above new Glock MOS pistols look sweet - which would you prefer and why for range , HD and gun games ? ... For me , I do not care about potential conversion of a G22 down to 9mm so I am just looking at these new Glocks straight up against each other - currently I do not own anything chambered in .45 ACP or .40 cal and future proofing is a consideration for the caliber . In terms of accuracy and handling - the G21 receives high praise for being a very accurate , soft shooter and with a red dot sight a G21 Gen 5 may make me forget about scratching that 1911 itch . The G22 Gen 5 (by all accounts) is likely Glock's best .40 cal design to date along with being a softer shooter than past Glock .40 cal pistols ... Tough call - thanks in advance for the replies .

My vote is for the G21 but I am a .45 aficionado. I have a G23 and really like it and the G22 is a great gun. Thinking about ammo availability down the road is a consideration. It used to be .40 would be on shelves when 9 and 45 were sold out but I don’t think manufactures will produce as much 40 going forward as previously. You will really like the characteristics of the 21. I have not shot any if the Gen 5 guns though.

I'm a .40 fan, especially if you're comparing a 27 to a 30 or 36. The 45 needs a longer barrel to shine. In the full size guns, it's a toss up, both will meet all your needs. 40 ammo will be a bit cheaper, may be harder to find than years past. I'm attaching a link to ballistics by the inch, if you want to compare them.

Really can't go wrong with either. I have both. I have all 3 Gens of the 21 and IMO the Gen5 is superior in every way. I carried a Gen3 22 (my chief let me have it when we moved to Gen4) for over a decade and then a Gen4 for many years. I picked up a Gen5 22 this spring and once again, IMO the Gen5 tops the Gen3 and Gen4 that I have extensive experience with.

My ugh on the Gen5's is purely aesthetic. I can't stand the front slide serrations. Other than that the Gen5 fits great in my hand and the updated, RSA works and works well.

My answer is BOTH!

I have both, both are very good. The G22 Gen5 shoots about like a 9mm, has the capacity advantage over the G21. Ammo wise, .40 can had for ~$300/1000rds online if you look around.
The G21.5 shoots very well too, less capacity, ammo is higher and it's a bit bigger overall. It really boils down to whether you want a .40 or a .45. Both are great options, both are very American calibers.

I have/had a 22.5 non MOS. The chunkier slide makes me wish I had bought a 20 or a 21.

I much prefer my 22.2 and 22RTF2 over my 22.5

Buy the 21 and eventually buy a conversion barrel for 10mm/.40 or a complete 20 slide.

Good to know - a direct comparison !
My BL dealer has a G20.5 MOS in and I might still get it since they do not think they will see the 21.5 MOS for awhile. I like the idea of shooting 40SW out of the 20.5 as well as 10mm. Plus I won’t have to keep changing my 40SW magazines base plate to a different color. LOL
