I've been out of the .45 ACP 1911 game for awhile. Missed it a lot. After a lot of reading, I went with the Dan Wesson. Now I get to do the break in process. This one is super nice and tight out of the box. I'm anxious to see how tight it is after the break in process.

I have (3) Dan Wesson 1911s. 2 in 45 acp and a Valor Government in 10mm. They are get high marks from me... Congrats on the grab. My next one is a Specialist in 45 acp optic ready!

Congrats. DW uses quality parts and produces nice 1911s. In my opinion, they’re currently the best production level 1911s on the market. Enjoy your new gun.
That's what everyone says. The best production 1911, and no MIM parts. And it's set up just how I want it.

I thought about getting the optic ready model, but I really wanted stainless steel, and I figured this one would just be for iron sight shooting.

Mine didn't really need a break-in. I can't tell any difference in the fit since it was NIB, other than the slide stop easing up a bit.

I did add/swap two parts. First was a Stan Chen one piece magwell, because the factory is a 2 piece with some slop. The other was an Ed Brown plunger tube spring to give the thumb safety a little extra snap.

Very nice looking piece! Minus the rail. I just can't get into 1911s with rails. I will wander off and yell at some clouds now.....
I like the rail, even though I probably won't use it. I had a stainless TRP, and I always thought that gun needed a rail based on the type of 1911 it is. The Specialist is what I wanted the TRP to be.

I've got three dan Wesson 1911's. Two valor's in 45 one government and a commander bobtail. The other is a stainless pointman five inch in 9mm. I put those up against anything else on the market and they hold their own. I put them slightly above most Wilson combat models for reset and tied for fit. Well done op and enjoy.
