Appreciate all of the replies, and they are all valid suggestions that will work depending on individual needs. I decided to go with an aggressive solution and opted for the Chambermax slide add-on that attaches to the back of the slide via a built-in backplate replacement. There are other products like it that will work just as well, I'm sure, but I liked the look of this one.
It arrived via US mail today as a result of prompt shipping by the vendor. Always appreciated.
Installation is a snap and there is an easy to follow video on the vendor's website.
It didn't take much time working with the modification to realize this was a great solution for me. It allows positive slide racking with either the slingshot or overhand method, so use whichever you prefer. It's on my house gun, so the slightly wider profile is not an issue, but I don't believe it would be a problem for most carry options. The Glock frame is approx 1 1/8 inches wide, and this measures 1/4 inch more at it's widest point. I have a Crimson Trace grip laser sight on this gun and there is no issue with any interference.

Hey Guys. I have not posted regularly in GG in many years. I was quite active when I first joined after "getting into" Glocks after being a long time S&W Auto Pistol user. But, after a while, I learned all I needed to about everything Glock and drifted into other forums here.
I think, as I've aged, my grip strength has diminished, plus my fingertip skin has gotten smoother (yes, that is an age thing). The result is I'm having trouble reliably racking the slide on my Gen 3 G22.
So, I need some way to improve the friction between the slide and me.
I did a little internet searching and know that there are devices that attach via the back plate that give you something to hold on to. That's one option, maybe as a last resort.
I think I would like to try some of the adhesive tapes or appliqués to stick onto the slide.
I've see some by various manufacturers to fit specific guns, but usually as part of a set for the whole gun, which I don't need.
What kind of tape have you found that fits the bill? Hockey tape? Skateboard tape? Suggestions appreciated.
