Hello all, really trying to increase my capacity without having to spend $400 on a 43X or a 48.

Is there a consensus on the most reliable +1 or +2 mag extension for the 43? Taran, Vickers, etc? Normally I’m a strictly OEM guy, but we don’t really have a choice here.

I'd sell the 43 and buy a 43X. You'll be better off in the long run.

If this was a carry gun, in no way shape or form would I touch the magazine. The extra capacity doesn't do much good if it doesn't feed and function is questionable or hit or miss.

MagGuts +2. I have MagGuts in 3 present guns and a G43 I sold. I have not ever had a failure. It just adds 1/4".

Here's the link I found by using the search function
G43 Mag extension
I like the 43 but bought the 43Xbecause I could tell I wanted a bigger grip that fit my hands but give up the size on concealed carry
This Friday at Midnight Constitutional Carry goes into law in the state of Indiana July 1st, 2022
My G43X will be with me the most of all the other handguns I have 10+1 in the little Glock

Everyone always seems to want more ammo/magazine capacity
There are the S15 magazines for the 43X/48, 19/33 round magazines for my 19X
I have four 10 round magazines for my 43X & think I'm good to go BUT?
You might want to get a tool to get the floor plates off the factory magazines, Tango Down/Vickers sells a really nice unit, see below

Yeah man I muchhhhh prefer the mag with the little pinky extension. So I may just upgrade to the 43X.

If you are going to add an extension, a 43x is a better choice. About the same size and has more rounds.

My go-to now although no malfunctions in the Tarans or Vickers I have either. The MagGuts spring feels stronger also. The compactness the MagGuts gives can't be beat. I have a 43X also and sometimes don't want all that grip. Yes there's a difference. Does it matter to you, no one else can answer. Test your own stuff in your gun and all the other disclaimers.

Less grip gun for me is my pocket carry P365 w/MagGuts +2.:)
I reached out to MagGuts in an email and asked about a +2 for a 43X. I was told they are strongly considering it. Members who would like a +2 for the 43X should email them.

The only way I would possibly consider trying one for 43X is if they add zero length to the mag. Any taller for that gun is no bueno.

MagGuts adds 1/4" in length.
PSA is coming out with a polymer 15 round mag that will work in a 43X. A better choice.

I like the Taran +1. Gives enough real estate to get half a pinky up there. Wish theyd make something of same length for the Glock 26 as well.

Have a Vickers +2 but don’t use it. Just got it on the magazine that I acquired but it’s sitting in a drawer.

I have never had a problem with TT, Vickers +2, or Pearce. I usually only use the Vickers +2 when I want more grip to draw with, cause you can make a G43 longer but can’t make the G43X smaller. MagGuts +1 is also go to go in my book.

As other members have pointed out, most +1 and +2 magazine extensions for the G43 seem to work very reliably in most G43s out there including my two G43s.

I have personally tested and used Pearce+1 (which is GSSF approved), TTI+1, TTI+2 and Vickers+2 with great success. I have been using MagGuts+1 and Ghost+1 in range mags with no issue. In my carry mags, I am using MagGuts+1 and MagGuts+2 exclusively after rigrous tests with my carry ammo (i.e., Fed. 124gr HST +P and Underwood 124gr “Nosler” JHP +P).

In terms of preserving the G43’s “concealability” and short grp length, you simply cannot beat MagGuts+1 and +2. MagGuts+1 combined with the OEM flush baseplate (or GeePlate in my case) can increase the capacity of the G43 to 7+1 without increasing the grip/magazine length in any way. MagGuts+2 can increase the capacity of the G43 to 8+1 but its proprietary baseplate extends LESS than the OEM non-capacity adding pinky reset or Pearce+1. (See the photo below.)

I'll cast a vote for Hyve. If were are extending the mag a little to get a better grip then the Hyve +1 is the best feeling magazine extender as it fills in the back strap gap perfectly. All the other +1 and even +2's leave a space between the end of the mag-well and the new mag base. on second thought the magguts +2 don't leave a gap, but they barely extend the magazine for a better grip. I had a 48 as well as my 43, and for some reason I prefer the Hyve +1 grip on the 43 over the 48/43x grip. But by keeping the 43 I can still have a couple factory flush mags and make it a pocket gun from time to time.

And reliable = yes. The Hyves use the oem spring, follower and base plate insert thingy. But you do have to cut the tabbies off the polymer mag shell, so those mags are committed to the hyve bases.

I have used the Pearce plus 2 as well as bought the 9 round ETS magazines with the X-Grip magazine grip adapter.. I’ve ran just over a thousand rounds through 4 ETS/X-Grip mags and never had a failure.
I always see people say they only trust factory mags in their carry gun and I understand the logic. With that said, no factory modified mags or my ETS aftermarket’s have failed me so I carry both
