But you better hurry (also, don’t fit Gen 5 G23 or Gen 5 G27).

I’ve been debating buying one of the Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 or the Galco Royal Guard 2 for quite a while. I’ve lost some weight and the setups I’ve been using aren’t serving me as well as I’d like. I have a Comp-Tac Infidel Max on order just to have a quick on/off holster for my G26/27, but I should probably pick up a similarly styled leather holster too. I want something with a small footprint that will carry well at 4 o’clock.

Mine should be here in a day or two or three 😂 - hate USPS with no tracking-(G43). I’ll post some picks here when it arrives. I had one long ago for now gone P365 basic. Used it a lot.

Really no debate. Galco is fine but Sparks is better.

I have a few Milt Sparks VM2 and they’ve been one of my goto for leather holsters. Since I lost more weight than I planned, I don’t have as much real estate on my hip and my VM2 needs to wrap further around my hip and the belt loops on my pants aren’t lining up well with them now. I was hoping the Comp-Tac worked well enough to get me through the summer. I’ve been carrying more OWB in the cooler months. I wanted to pick up a Tenicore ARX for OWB, but I’d have to use the G19 holster since they don’t make it for the G26/27. The stars just aren’t aligning for me lately. 🤣

The ComTac should have a split hook to straddle your belt loop just like the SSII two straps do. I like them both. I think the SSII is slightly more comfortable.

Both the SS2 and the Executive Companion won't require as much "width".

Milt Sparks makes decent stuff. Trying to get one and what they cost is a bit crazy though. The problem for me is, they are leather and while my VMII was usually OK in the winter, I couldn't/wouldnt wear it in the summer due to being active and sweating like a pig.

Those SS's look a lot like the Galco Royal Guards I used to use before Kydex showed up. That rough-out swede-type leather is like a sponge and sucks sweat up like one, so if you're wearing the gun on a daily basis and sweat a lot, you may want to consider that.

My Sparks SSII is my daily Summer wear holster, started using one during the Summer months about 20 years ago, primarily in a Glock 19 or Shadow Systems MR918. It works just fine and I don't really find that to be the case. But I guess it could for some

I have an assortment of kydex IWB holsters as well as leather backed/kydex body holsters too, but the SSII get the call during the Summer or for those times when I want/need a bit more concealment.

As promised, here’s some pics of my brand spankin’ new Milt Sparks Summer Special II for my G43. Photos at bottom of holstered gun on 1.5” belt. Brownest belt I have atm 😂. Ordered a Buffalo 1.5” that should match holster much better. Milt Sparks also sells a black leather and a black shark loop replacement if you’re so inclined.

Great looking rig! How’s the draw with it; does it need much break in?
Still tight, day 1. But gun fully insertable out of the box with no stretching necessary. Good solid draw just pulling from holster, but IWB tight. Could be I just have belt a bit extra tight since wearing shorts with a nylon kore essentials tactical belt 😂. I don’t think break in will take long at all. Jeans tomorrow with leather gun belt all day, will update tomorrow evening.

If there was an in stock ssII for G27.5, I’d order right now!

I just broke in another holster last night. I’ve been drawing my gun from it a couple hundred times and it was still too tight for carry. I had enough yesterday and stretched the holster and mag pouch with freezer bags.

i like the design of the Summer Special 2, which several companies have copied. I’ve carried AIWB for many years, but as I get older I’m liking it less. It’s caused me to dig through my box of holsters for better strong side carry options. i still like the Sparks VM2, but it’s nice to have an option with a smaller profile to pop on and off to run a quick errand. I ordered a Comp-Tac Infidel Max for that role for now.

Optics Planet had some good deals on the Galco Royal Guard 2, which is a copy of the Summer Special 2.

I have used the galco royal guard, and the Milt Sparks ss2, along other holsters from both manufacturers.
It's my honest opinion that the Milt Sparks holster is a great deal, and the galco holster is a ripoff. The Milt Sparks holster is so much better, and not much more expensive. I always have holsters on order there, and won't buy another big brand off the shelf holster ever again. It's amazing how two holsters can look so similar, but carry so different. I don't mind waiting, their quality is exceptional.

I’ve used several Galco holsters over the years and they’re fine, but I agree, they aren’t on the same level as a custom holster from Sparks, or similar companies. I like the VM2 from Sparks, which I use with a couple of guns. Galco has a similar holster, the V-Hawk, which was decent at the price point i picked them up, but Galco’s prices are approaching that of Sparks on some models, which is ludicrous.
