I have a Glock 43X for concealed carry but I’m looking to get another pistol for home defense. I’m looking for something bigger than the 43X. I won’t be carrying it so I’m not worried about concealing it. A couple friends have the Glock 19 and highly recommend that. I’ve held that’ll it and it feels good in the hand and I like the weight and balance. I went to a local sporting goods store and also tried the 17 and it seemed like it had better balance to me? Anyone recommend one over the other? Or any other recommendations? I want to keep the price point down around $600 or so if possible. Thanks in advance!

Both the G17 and G19 are fine choices.

If you think that there is a possibility of carrying your choice in the future - I would go G19.

Can't go wrong with either. Perhaps rent both at a range and get a feel for what works best for you.

FWIW - my home defense handgun is a G19 gen2. But I also carry it on occasion.

I agree with the G19/G17 choice, possibly swapping the G45 for the G17.. I personally don't like the grip of the G17/G45, but we're all different.

There's a reason the 19 outsells all the other models. Pick it up and you will agree as well.

If you liked the balance of the 17, you will like the 34 even better. Look for a new or slightly used Get 3 or Gen 4.

Glocks do everything pretty darn well so if size/weight is not an issue, get a G21 and be done with it. Speaking for myself I have med sized hands so the G19 is what I would choose but only for ergo reasons.

My combination has been the same for a long time. G17 home defense and G26 for carry. A G19 would be my all in one, but I decided not to go that route.

Really, the difference between a G17 and a G19 is barely over half an inch.

I agree either the 19 or 17 are good choices. I like my 17 for home defense and for some competition; fits my hand; I do have a flat face trigger (Apex) which if you have big fingers is more comfortable.

A G45 and 43X is a perfect combo. Both 9m/m so the same ammo. This is my choice of two Glock pistols.

Another vote for the G19 or G17. As has been mentioned, the G19 would give you the option of carrying that as well. Not that you couldn't carry a G17, just not as easy to conceal carry.

I've owned a lot of Glocks, but I've never paid $600 for one. Go find a used one for $450 unless you qualify for blue label, then a new one is around $400ish.
