For anyone still saying "But AmmoSeek vendors game the system with shipping rates!" - please see the image I posted, or just experiment with the site. You can filter by free shipping or conditionally free shipping (over x dollars, or over x rounds purchased). I don't even bother looking at vendors who won't provide shipping costs until you add a product to your cart. Waste of my time.

For those who frequently buy bulk, are you being charged state sales tax?
This depends on the seller. Increasingly, yes, I am charged PA state sales tax. But there are still a few vendors here and there who won't charge it. For instance, I bought about 7k rds last year from Wild Horse, spread out over the year. Early on, there was no sales tax. Then at some point they started charging it. Other vendors have always charged me sales tax.

Do you have a membership with them? I'm always arguing with myself whether or not it is a good deal. My worry is that I'll tie in with them and then they won't have what i want when I need it.
No membership for me and they still have better prices than most everybody else.

I'm not a super high volume shooter which makes the membership cost closer to break even for me and so I've never done it.

Aa it turns out, I probably should have as I've also placed 2-3 orders in the last year for a very not tech-savvy friend who can't seem to navigate a basic purchase on the Internet.

Buying for two, the membership would pay off.

Wasn't my wife was it? She probably wouldn't be buying ammo but she definitely fits the non-tech-savvy part. :D

Have you looked at Freedom/LAX lately? I don't know what happened there but their prices have jumped dramatically. Their reman'd stuff is more expensive than other factory new stuff. Kind of disappointing.
$11.96 for their 115 9mm reman is pretty cheap compared to others.

Freedom just had some pretty good sales and offers of free shipping over the holidays. A lot of 147gr 9mm found its way to my house then...

Target Sports has MagTech 115 aluminum case for $10.99 (free shipping if an Ammo+ - used to be Prime - member).

I cannot shoot steel cased ammo with bi-metal jacket at my local indoor range, but they have no problem with CCI Blazer/Federal aluminum cased ammo. So, I try to buy a case of CCI Blazer aluminum cased ammo (i.e., $229.80 / case with free shipping) when Target Sports USA has it in stock. I think it is probably the cheapest factory fresh ammo made in USA by a reputable company (even though its parent company is now owned by a foreign company).

FWIW
For whatever reason, SGAmmo.com charges not only my state's sales tax, but also county and city sale taxes, while TargetSportsUSA.com only charges the state sales tax only. So, I buy my factory fresh ammo mostly from Target Sports.

I've been shooting CCI Blazer aluminum since the beginning of my gun life (1980's) (thus my username), many many rounds - great for cheap training ammo.

Steel case stuff not so common anymore. I used to love it.

Winchester USA made steel case stuff ("FORGED") stinks horribly- stay away from it, jams inside Glock mags.

Brown Bear 115 steel case was awesome years ago. Smelled like cat urine and was dirty and primers were hard. But it was so cheap I had a small mountain of it. And it was loaded pretty warm, too! The lacquered cases fed smoothly, unlike that Winchester crap or black box Tula.

The recent beef with Russia took away some of my favorite ultra-budget ammo options. Don't even get me started on 7.62x39 or 5.45x39!

I shoot a lot of the Blazer Cleanfire aluminum in indoor ranges. About a buck more a box than the non-Cleanfire, but if I am shooting a lot indoors I try to use ammo that will help keep the lead and more ingestion to a minimum. I can't control what others shoot but I can what is right in front of my face.

You're right about Winchester USA Forged. In my experience, it is even worse than TulAmmo or Barnaul steel cased ammo, which I used to shoot a lot at our club's outdoor range.

Freedom Munitions' American Steel ammo is not bad at all quality wise; but it costs $12.20 / box today, which is more expensive than MagTech brass cased ammo...

Wait aluminum case ammo?

+1 for SGA been using them for years. Used to buy bulk ftom Freedom Munitions a lot but had too many failures to fire due to primers.

I've bought 9mm ammo from many different companies, notably TargetSportsUSA, SGAmmo, Berelli, Crate Holdings, Recoil Gunworks, Bulk Ammo, and various others, depending on who is offering what for the best price. For the last three years or so, I've found AmmoSeek.com to be the best place to start looking.

I've used Rivertown Munitions a few times. Good prices when on sale, no tax outside PA and free shipping on bulk ammo. Also fast shipping.
Does anyone else have a list of ammo dealers that do not charge tax outside their state?

Michael
