I bought an A2 stock. it came with a cap that screws on the buffer tube to keep it all together for storage. that was very handy.

it's plastic. now it's worn out. needs replacement. you can get caps like this but they are metal and cost like 25 bucks. anybody know of a common bottle cap that works this way?

That does sound handy. I wouldn't mind having a few of those, either (if cheap).

No markings of any sort on the cap?

Perhaps contact the company that sold you the stock assembly, and ask them for the name of their supplier of said part (and part number, if they have it)?

Just flip it around and put the buffer in first and let the spring hang out.

no markings. bought it at a gun store. will check with the mfr. I would imagine they don't sell those seperately. they'll just tell me to buy another stock.
