It seems like Kimber was good quality, then bad quality, then good quality. I’m considering buying a new Kimber. Any say on if Kimber has their stuff together now or am I going to be sending this back to Kimber in 6 weeks?

Their base guns are nice guns for people wanting a 1911 with entry level upgrades without a big price tag and this isn't going to be their primary gun. What’s good about them? The abundance of MIM parts or the fact that they charge forged part money for some of their models?
I think their base guns are a decent option, but the more expensive models are just ridiculous. Dan Wesson is a much better quality pistol in that price range.
Kimber takes heat because they won't take the gun back until you put 500 rounds through it. Then with LE they would only guarantee certain rounds through it. Glock changed up their mag followers like crazy in .40 15-20 years ago because of troubles with common LE ammo.Their CS use to really be bad years ago if you did need to send it back . I don’t know if that has improved or not . That would be a big deciding factor if I were ever to buy another one .
My Dan Wesson had to go back because of jamming , it never made it through the first range session . But their CS was good . Repaired the pistol and I had it back in 2 weeks . It hadn’t malfunctioned since .
That's long been the advice of any gun, don't stray far from the original. It seems fullsize Kimbers in 45 run. Anything else they make, not so much.
Didn't Ron Cohen work for both? The Kimber names are goofy. Almost as bad as Sig![]()
