Range Report:

I bought 3 KCI 33 round mags recently and finally tested them yesterday, and 2 of 3 bound up at about the halfway point, just a heads up. All 3 bound up while loading, so I wasn't really surprised. They will be just for having fun at the range and nothing more.

I have 6 of the 15 rounders for my G19 ( range use only, spray painted the baseplates orange). They've run fine with WWB and Champion, but I recently had multiple FTF's with 9mm NATO. Didn't bother me any, let me work on my malfunction drills. However I wasn't expecting much as I have less than $20 into all six of the mags.

My 6 very cheap 17 round KCI mags have been flawless in my G17. Also with my G17, the very cheap KCI 33 round mags have trouble applying constant and consistent spring pressure on the follower from full to empty it seems; they bind up when half full.

Thanks for the report. The lack of availability of the .40 22-rounders has me wanting to get some KCI mags. I've heard that they could have excess plastic flashing inside the magazine tube, the feed lips may not be in spec, the follower may have excess plastic flashing as well and may be too small, the lip at the front of the tube may be too tall, and that the springs aren't the best. I have no personal experience with them but for $20 I don't mind trying one and tinkering with it if I need to. If I had problems with it I'd probably compare it to a factory magazine and remove any excess plastic, try a Glock-made or Wolff brand spring, and try the latest Glock-made follower for that caliber.

I've had zero problems with the three KCI normal 15 round magazines that I own, but I also had tons of problems with the 33 round magazine.

- It was extremely difficult to get it loaded fully the first time, I kept it 3 rounds short in storage to stretch the spring for a week.

- When I took the magazine out of my bag to show it to my stepfather, the first 2 or 3 rounds fell out. Apparently the floor plate was trapped at the bottom and not pushing up any more. A few whacks got it unstuck.

- Finally at the range, it would only feed 1 or 2 rounds before double feeding or completely failing to feed it all. It was a nightmare to shoot with, even at the range.

It was only 15 bucks I think plus shipping, so I'm not out too much but I definitely won't get another.

I save my expensive factory mags for when it counts. I use the cheap KCI mags for practice and playing around. It's been fun testing the KCI mags, and I always alternate about 10 different types of ammo per magazine just for kicks.

I ordered the 33 round mag on Wednesday (cheaper n dirt) and got it in on Friday. Mine loaded up just fine the first time. I can actually fit 35 rounds in it. It had some excess plastic that didn't get trimmed in the factory. I ignored it and so did my glock. I shot it as fast as I could, one at at time, federal, winchester white box.... and in the end, no ftf or fte and the slide locked back when empty every time. My buddy got one that seems irreparable though. It's a gamble, but if you get one that works you just saved a lot of money.

Just picked up a 31 rnd .40 s&w mag today to check it out for myself, the mag follower or spring starts to jam up half way when you load it due to the metal lining in the mag being 2 pieces held together one ontop of the other by the polymer exterior and not even. Also the zipper style seam in the back of the mag {inside} is very jagged.

That's what I ended up doing to get the three I bought to work with out failure. Lets see 12.99 for the 31 round magazines, that wouldn't feed as they came from the factory. 8.00 per Glock factory 33 rd. magazine spring X 3,2.99 per Glock factory .40 #. 8 followers X 3 and 13.99 for a pair of bases of +2 design that won't pop off magazine bodies when rapped on a leg to seat the rounds. Add it all up and those cheap 40 S&W 31rds. magazines weren't so cheap any more but now they work, use them for the Kel Tec sub 2000. SJ 40

^^^^What he said????
CDNN had the Asian mags for $6.99 each a while back. I think they are $7.99 now. I bought a dozen or so of them and have been using them to shoot IDPA and USPSA matches. So far they have been 100% reliable. I have plenty of factory Glock mags but as an experiment I wanted to use the Asian mags in matches to see how they worked and they have worked perfect. Also I like using them for matches over my factory Glock mags so that I don't beat up my factory Glock mags when dropping them during mag changes. I would rather destroy the Asian mags at $6.99 per mag and save my factory mags.

I've tried these mags as well as several buddies; never had good luck.

On a great day, I would only use these for goofing off.
