Last year in one of the threads someone was talking about how within a year or so we'd see a company bring the FMG-9 to market. Well I'm waiting and I haven't heard a peep about such a thing. Anyone know something I don't about it?

Thanks!!

Magpul made it clear that they had absolutly no intention of going anywhere with the FMG-9. It was strictly an example of what Magpul's design & manufacturing is capable of.

You're right, but it was rumored that the reason they did what they did is because they wanted someone to BUY the design from them.

What I heard last year or sometime early this year was that someone DID start planning to make them. I was just looking for more information on it.

Thanks!

magpul makes great accessories but i doubt they have the capability to mass produce a firearm. it would be interesting to see a manufacturer buy the design and bring it to market. i saw magpul has a 308 version of the ACR but it's doubtful in my mind it'll make it to market anytime soon if at all.

I guess I don't really get it, what advantge does the FMG-9 really have over a regular pistol other than just being neat.

It's a SBR. Which means it's a shoulder fired pistol that's recoil can be stabilized by the mini front vertical grip.

Plus, because it folds it's easier to conceal...even in plain sight...than a full size pistol.

There are more advantages but those are just off the top of my head. I just can't think of any other shoulder fired weapon I can hold in my hand while walking my dog at night or in broad daylight...:dunno:

You do know that the Magpul FMG9 is the 4th generation version of the folding submachinegun.

If you have around $30,000+ and live in a MG friendly state, you could try and get the 1st gen (ARES FMG) or 2nd gen (Boatman UC-M21) verisons of it.

The 3rd gen verison (KBP PP90) is not available in the USA.
The KPB PP90 is used by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

By MG friendly state I'm assuming you mean outside of the US right? Or are those other versions from a LOOONNG time ago?

I don't care who uses them...I WANT ONE!! I'll pay a pretty penny for it to!

I HATE seeing things that I want and not being able to own one! See, Full Autos don't really make me drool that much. Too wasteful with ammo. But something this small, that folds up and can be carried in plain sight...it's just torture that I can't own one!! :crying:

I was watching one of those ultimate weapon shows that featured the FM-9. In one of the short video clips they used to show off the weapon, the pistol was not 100% Glock. You will notice that Magpul built a custom Glock lower complete with their branding. Also note the upper receiver cover contains their model name and unique branding. I get the feeling that they are still doing some kind of development on the FM-9. Otherwise why continue spending time in development?

The fit and finish on this weapon looks production ready. Check out 3:03

a concealable SBR is useless in most CCW states..
i guess it probably has some appeal to law enforcement, but i doubt it's marketable still.

A concealable SBR is legal to carry conceal with a CCW permit in some states.
Such as... AZ, CA and NV.

I saw this thing on some show on the Military Channel. Seemed fairly interesting. The narrators/experts gave some nods to Glock.

I imagined myself shooting one and I just sort of laughed, very unconventional odd type of weapon obviously. Id like to see a room full of guys training with them.

 How many firearms are relegated to service as little more than whole punchers?

The SBR designation would turn off alot of buyers but some people like me would make it their first. It probably has more to do with the fact that the FMG9 part and not the glock slide is actually "the gun"
