Reading through another post I had to ask my self, How much SD "type" ammo do yall keep handy / loaded in mags? I don't keep any, but I have never considered my ARs as my primary self defense weapons. Just curious.

have 350 30rd pmags filled with 77gr OTM


wanting to stock up on some more HST 147gr currently.

I only keep one mag loaded for defense. It's 6rds in my G43.

I have a few hundred rounds of various HD type ammo at any given time, but it's in boxes.

I did happen to find a good deal on IMI Razorcore 77gr OTM and kinda went overboard on it, bought all the guy had which was 10,000 rds. Bought another 500rds of it from SGammo a couple months ago, unfortunately the ones from SGammo have a lot of messed up primers and cases so i set them aside as practice ammo.


Currently in my HD AR is 75gr speer gold dots, bought 1000 of them from PSA.

So 10,500 wasn't enough? The Gold Dots are probably better for HD, but you were most likely all set with the OTM.

So 10,500 wasn't enough? The Gold Dots are probably better for HD, but you were most likely all set with the OTM.

its way more than enough lol. I bought the 10k when it was the height of an ammo panic and at the time the price was stupid good. Bought the other 500rds because i was dumb and thought it was the magtech/CBC 77gr ammo and wanted to compare it...thats why you always double check your cart.


bought the gold dots because i heard they were excellent in SBRs.

Home invasions do occur with multiple intruders.
Couldn't hurt to have a spare mag.

the only thing thats ever tried to attack me was a rooster with an attitude problem and i did just fine with a gloved hand. Pimp slapped the wind out of it and that was that.

Still doesnt stop me from keeping an AR with a spare mag in reach.

One day I was visiting my parents and there was a "chicken" out front. I went out and knelt down in front of him to talk - it flew at me talons first - I knocked it outta the air with a forearm and after that as long as I was looking at him he'd keep his distance. I went in and told my brother to look out at the nice "chicken" and told him to go out and say hi. It was pretty funny to watch as he got attacked and came running in screaming like a little girl. Every now and then I ask him if he remembers the time he got beat up by a "chicken".

yeah this chicken was uncles pet and kept trying to make my range his turf.

He attacked my wife who went running and screaming. Sucker turned to me, jumped up talons first and i slapped that sucker hard. He went spinning through the air face down into the dirt. Got up trying to catch its breath. Didnt come back to my range after that.
