I like the xtp line. Not great expansion but always expands some & thus great penetration. I would have no issues with their 124gr+p in 9 & do carry their 200gr in ltwt 45s.

I carry WW PDX1 in every caliber, but XTP and Gold Dots are also seeing use, and if I don’t use hard cast for hunting for some strange reason, the XTPs are next in line for deer or coyotes, etc.. Excellent penetration out of the XTP…

I use XTPs as my hiking load. The first mag is XTPs and the reloads are hardcast loaded hot. Where I live feral bipeds and their feral canines are the most likely suspects but we've also had cougar attacks and black bear attacks, of course, very rarely. I find the XTPs are an excellent dual purpose round giving descent expansion with good penetration, that is, if I don't have time to change mags for bear defense.

In town, I use PDX1 or Critical Duty. Mostly because I can't find much of anything else but I have zero issues with either of these two loads. They both work great.

For two legged predators, I like HSTs or Gold Dots.

For four legged predators or game animals, I like XTPs.

I seriously doubt if a two legged predator is trying to inflict death or serious bodily injury on you, and you shoot him/her in a vital area with an XTP, he/she is going to get up and say nope sorry you should have used a Gold Dot.

A lot of boxes of XTP across many calibers in my storage especially 44 mag for my lever gun. Fiocchi and black hills ammo introduced me to XTPs. Those two are among many reputable brands that have chosen the XTP projectile.

two reasons I don’t carry it often in edc pistols: (1) For 9mm I get Gold Dot 124 +p in 50 round boxes for cheaper or nearly the same cost as XTPs and SGD is a proven defensive round. (2) If I am really looking for 9mm to be used in a woods defense role or any role I need to ensure ample penetration, I choose Black Hills’ Honeybadger for that.

At the moment , have 155 XTP in G22 . Because currently not many 155 readily available , and I wanted to try 155 .

I figured the XTP ( particular design criteria for expansion ) would be offset by the lighter weight .

But alas , I have since acquired a stack of 165 HST , which will become the default carry load .
