For those of you that open carry what type of holster do you use. How do you practice weapon retention while carrying open? I assume you a least use a thumb break holster. SC just recently passed an open carry law if you have a cwp. So I’m thinking of carrying open some.
I open carry, in a custom shoulder holster rig, from MTR Custom Leather, LLC. (Ramseur, NC) which is the same one I use when carrying concealed. (When concealed, I simply wear an open shirt (Summer) or Jacket/coat (rest of year.) Has retention straps/closures on all three components.

I also have a different "Alaskan" type leather rig, (Gun in the center of my chest) for use when riding my Harley TriGlide. (Same company as other shoulder rig.)

I also have a Kydex OWB, with double magazine pouch for two different handguns, an in-pocket, smooth leather holster for a Ruger .380 and a ankle holster for a Glock 42. The Kydex does not have a retention strap nor does the in-pocket, but the ankle holster does.

When I am in a crowd or in a store, I am extra attentive. I am also extra vigilant when in the vicinity of "questionable" looking individuals.

I do not carry inside any Federal Building or on any Federal Property, where it is illegal to do so. This also means I am rarely on Federal Property.

Thinking of retiring in SC.
