My son had a same problem and we concluded the problem to be his long finger wrapping around the trigger too much. As he pulled the trigger combined with upward recoil motion, the finger was hitting magazine release.
I'm going to go with this..

When I had the smallest back strap on my HK45, when dry firing I noticed when I fully pulled the trigger the end of my finger was resting on the mag release. Couple that with a more sensitive mag release and I see how this could happen.

When I started using the medium back strap I noticed it felt better, I shot better, AND I no longer touched the button.

Now I just need to figure out why my slide lock doesn't work and all will be well lol.

You know what? My son's finger is not just longer, but it's curvey (cricket). Another reason.
Mine is similar. Dry firing probably wouldn't show the problem. When you were live firing and pulling the trigger with more force I could really see how this could happen.

On a happy note, I figured out why my slide wouldn't lock back after empty. Had to modify my grip.
