High Standard Riot Shotgun

I ran across and interesting piece this weekend that I'm considering buying after a bit more research. It's a High Standard Riot 18-7 RS that's in really great condition. The kicker for me is that it's stamped on one side of the receiver with "USMC" and the other side "US Property...US Marine Corp" There is NO serial number on the gun (unless it's under the wood somewhere) that I can find. There was also some sort of Auction or sales tag attached indicating that it came from Camp Pendelton around 1991. I remember High Standard making shotguns...but I don't recall ever seeing one of these.

Any thoughts, info or other input guys?

I have an old 18-7 that serves night stand duty. I've shot clays with it, buckshot and slugs. Action is smooth and makes the right noise. Paid $100. for it years ago. A very cool shotgun. I'd buy it only if s/n can be verified.
There is no serial number...

My understanding from an old High Standard guy is that HS didn't put S/Ns on shotguns until about late '67...early'68.

Sounds like a very interesting shotgun and probably has an interesting history.

It's funny, as High Standard is kind-of one of those under the radar companies. Yet, they make really nice AR's (mil spec, nothing special), and excellent milled receiver AK47s (they also have regular stamped ones). Their 22 pistols are match grade, Olympic type stuff. Yet, for the most part, no one really thinks about them even though they've been around for many, many decades. I've never handled anything from them I wouldn't say is not very functional. So I am sure that shotgun will plenty good-to-go.

Reminds me of the scene in The Getaway where Steve McQueen uses a High Standard riot shotgun:
