Seeing as there is literally no other option in my area to find buyers in a face to face gun sale, I am thinking about biting the bullet and paying them to post an ad. Other sellers are currently just putting their phone numbers or email addresses in the ad text and Armslist isn't banning them, so I'm thinking that would be the strategy.

Has anyone bought one of their paid accounts? They describe it as a monthly fee, but I don't sell guns every month of the year, just need to sell one right now. How easy is it to just cancel my subscription after using it once?

When they want a subscription fee to place ad is one thing but to have to have a subscription to reply to an ad is too much to soon

Over the last 15 or so years, I have bought and sold untold weapons and ammo on AL and never once had an issue. I always use a bill of sale or there's no sale. I have to have a valid local DL or CWP or I wont sell. That being said, I have ran into some kooks but you can usually weed them out quickly. I could totally understand them charging the sellers a monthly fee but to charge a perspective buyer a fee just to contact the seller is ludicrous. This is the end of AL. I have to wonder if this wasn't intentional, charging the shoppers a fee to contact the sellers. This may be to dissolve AL in a discrete way without saying we have to go under because of a law suit. Either way, this is an absolute end to Armslist. I searched my local AL that ALWAYS has 100's of listings and there was only 1 pistol, 1 rifle and 1 box of ammo. I then searched a bigger local market of AL close to me that usually has 1000's of listings and there were less than 20. Everyone has bailed from AL and its not a shock considering what AL has done. Everyone saying to use the local gun trader ( Florida Gun Trader for me to be specific ) , that would be great if you could EVER get registered. I have attempted registration more times than I can count over the last 2 years on Florida Gun Trader and NEVER get a conformation email. I have contacted support to try and find out why and NEVER gotten a response. At this point, Florida Gun Trader is dead for me also. If someone knows what the trick is to getting registered with Florida Gun Trader, please let me know....
Thanks.

I have one active ad left on AL that I can edit or bump with my phone only. On the computer it doesn't show the edit my listings options. As others have stated above, I have bought and sold many items on AL without any issues and I would be OK paying a small fee for listing an item, but not a monthly fee and not a fee to contact sellers to ask a question. Oddly enough since the fees have started, I have been contacted 3 times by "potential buyers", all 3 were scammers. Interested in my "Item", wanting it shipped even though my ad clearly states no shipping, wanting me to call them at a number that an internet search shows it as a potential scam number from Wisconsin, worded in a way that it is very obvious they don't know what I am sell, etc. So looks like the only ones willing to pay the monthly fees are the scammers.
Not many other options here in Iowa that I am aware of, but I am done with AL and judging from how long an item stays on page 1 of the listings, most others are as well.

So quick update, I did actually list my gun and pay their fee. On the payment page it just says you are paying for one month, so if it’s auto-renewed, I’ll be surprised.

I had to sell the gun—there was a different gun I wanted more and I needed the money for it. I did put my email address in the ad text and I got three replies directly to my email and two replies through the contact seller system (meaning two people paid to contact me). I don’t think many people in my area have bought into the system yet, give how slow ad posting has been, but when I’m using the website to sell my stuff, it’s easier to justify paying a fee. Until Armslist bans people for putting their email addresses or phone numbers into the ad text, I think it should be OK until a free alternative pops up.

Update to this. They DID auto-renew it. Damn.

I canceled, but I'm already locked in for another month, like how Amazon Prime works.

I’m not sure how ethical this is but there’s a work around if you made a free account in the past. If you sign in you can view all of your deactivated listings, you can edit them, change the pictures, and reactivate past listings.

I have a free account and it won't let me do anything with it without upgrading.

This works on my phone so I’m not sure if it would work with a PC. When you sign in and get the pop up just X out and there will be a drop down tab on the left side that says “account menu”. Click it and you’ll see “my listings”. If you click on the deactivated listings you can edit them.

I've always listed on GunOwnersClub as well as Armslist.

Armslist is now done for me but Gun Owners Club works just fine. I have had many listings at gun owners club and never been asked for any payment

I could do this when they first changed, but now when I make changes or try to reactivate a listing, it is deleted. So, I guess I am done there. I moved over to gunlistings.org which is slowly gaining in popularity.

How hard was it to cancel the account? I've looked on the Armslist FAQ's and not any info about it. I'd like to sell just a couple of guns and be done with it. Is it as simple as going back into one's account and having the ability to cancel in there somewhere once you no longer want it or do you have to do some other action like contact Armslist and ask them to cancel? Thanks!

You just go into the Billing section in the menu and click "cancel."

I started to sign up for it a few days ago but they want my name and address and I’m sure that data will get stolen sooner or later and the democrat socialist brown shirts will come a knocking to take what I have bought and to rape my wife.

I’m not doing it.
