Hi all, hope ya’ll are well!

The latest in the GunTuber feeds has been H&K releasing their CC9, a stack-and-a-half, 1-inch thick micro-9. 10 or 12+1 round capacity, green front sight and blacked out serrated rear.

The general consensus is
  • MSRP $699
  • it’s a really good pistol
  • shoots well for its size
  • bigger than a P365; about the size of a P365X
  • doesn’t feature a paddle mag release
  • everyone is wondering why it took H&K 7 years to develop and release it; especially when they had a good-to-go prototype 3 years ago
  • some saying it H&K took too long: they weren’t first to the micro-9 market, they didn’t do anything innovative, and arguably H&K fans aren’t happy because the CC9 doesn’t have many of the features they wanted
  • It looks like a Taurus G3C or GX4
Just another polymer-framed, striker-fired micro-9. Move along fellas, nothing to see here :p

Old Honest Outlaw giving out bad memory info as if it's fact.

"Considerably smaller than... a Shield" and "the exact same size as a P365".

Nope. Not based on the numbers I'm seeing.

Larger than a P365 and the same size as a Shield.

I can see that, for a couple reasons.

First, the paddle mag release is less susceptible to being unintentionally pressed, in the same manner a mag button release can be at times.

Secondly, when i started using the Walther/S&W 99 series pistols, I came to really appreciate the way an ambi paddle can be accessed and manipulated under dynamic conditions.

Dunno if the HK engineers decided they needed to pander to potential owners who were accustomed to the 'American' style' mag release catch, or they had a space problem in that little frame that could only be addressed with the button catch.

No doubt it will sell to the HK fans and aficionados, even though the market is virtually flooded with similar models. Now, if they offered it in .40, it might garner some additional interest. Thus far, that part of the consumer market seems to belong to S&W with their Shield 40.

Completely agree. It’s a $699 Gucci Taurus that offers nothing to justify its price. A $400 base model Shield Plus has more value.

It’s begs the question: who is this for? Because it’s not for everyone who already has a P365, Shield Plus, 43X, Hellcat, FN Reflex, or any other micro-9 on the market. It’s not for anyone who loves cutting-edge, innovative designs and products. It’s not even for H&K fans because it lacks a lot of the features that those fans want from an H&K pistol. It’s H&K in name and price and reliability - and Taurus in design :ROFLMAO:

Any other calibers other than 9mm?

Interesting.
Almost 20 years ago I used to be more into HK auto pistols, Sig etc. The paddle mag release always felt different, practice helped.
They are definitely behind the game.
I know they need to make money, however having Poofcats and Shield plus micro compacts I don't feel that urge to go buy one or 2. HK mags have always been expensive like Sig also, no thank you.

Exactly and I thought Glock was late to the party.. HK issue will be not if the guns good..im sure its fine.. but people like me that got the Glock 43X will say...mow why would I buy the HK instead or trade/sell my 43X for it?? I dont need 2 CC pistols I also see nothing that the HK does my Glock doesnt... or a reason id say yup NEED the HK instead..

Had it come out when I got the 43X I certainly may have opted for the HK..... BUT..... I looked at almost and shot all the available ones back then the Walther, the 43x the 48, the Shield, the Hellcat and 365.. it was a VERY tight race very little separated them for me..My kid ended up with the Hellcat, I ended up with the 43X.. id have been fine with just about anything but the 365...I liked the 365 but it was to me significantly MORE than the rest of them... and didnt offer ME any more that id say yes, its worth the premium(aka it didnt do anything better than the rest but yet cost more..almost $100 more..so hard pass for me at that time.

My point in saying that was... Same deal with the HK I havent seen a street price yet.. but if its more than the Shield, 43X, 48, Hellcat its not worth my time or $$and having the HL on it you can almost certainly guarantee its going to be 365 price+ probably.. aka not worth it to me.

Why would I want that? It's a copy of everything in the mainstream CCW market and costs more than a lot of them. H&K has never made a handgun that does anything better than the competition, so I'll pass.

The only handgun H&K has ever made that I would consider owning is the P7 line and that's just because they look cool. This does not look cool.

i don’t know why people are surprised. HK has always been up market. They don’t worry competing on the exact same price point with SA, Glock, S&W, etc.

They are generally always over-engineered. They are usually higher quality and more durable than the others as well.

People complain it’s just another micro 9, but then they complain it’s more expensive. Maybe HK is trying to differentiate themselves, as they usually do.

i’m not a fan of small pistols, but I’d grab one if I were.

So which features were the HK people hoping to see on this micro 9?

Made in the USA. It may not be a big deal, but it would be a feel-good thing if it was made in Germany.

Great video here, I might possibly be coming around? As for the other videos, James opinion here is really the only one that matters, the others are just YouTubers.
I watched that almost-an-hour long video last night. It was kind of interesting, but it was surprisingly info-lacking for the amount of time (no mention of trigger weight, trigger reset distance, not even the barrel length).

To save anybody else the time:

1.) It's essentially a scaled-down VP9SK, except for the firing pin block (which is pushed upward like the Glock).
2.) The trigger reach with the large backstrap is the same as the VP9SK.
3.) The chassis system isn't really to facilitate swapping the fire control unit to other frames but to provide additional rigidity.
4.) It comes in a cardboard box, but includes a soft case.

The rest of it was just a sales pitch about how much it's been tested (no figures, though), how easy it is to shoot well (as long as you use the large backstrap), how it's the gun you want on you for the worst day of your life, etc... with a small bit of shade thrown at an unnamed gun manufacturer that I'm sure totally isn't Sig. ;)

I did get the impression that HK USA and HK Germany really are separate entities - and not just legally. Maybe that's why we have this thing instead of the SFP9CC.
