This is something new they've never done.

Sorry if it's been posted, I did check front page in General Glocking.

Also, my first order with Glockstore arrived today. They shipped it very quickly, packaged it very nicely, and included some cool stickers and coupon. Far cry from the horror stories I'd heard about them. And the OEM parts I ordered are OEM stamped/numbered parts. :) Not bad at all.

FWIW, I'm not a fan of FFS, they create an unnecessary abrasive surface where one isn't needed. Much more importantly, I see tons of newer shooters using them to retract the slide and in so doing place at least one finger or part of their hand directly over and often in contact with the muzzle. There's nothing preferable or 'improved' about that. I've even heard some say to the effect that, 'If it wasn't safe to do it that way, they wouldn't have made serrations on the front of the slide.' Yeah.

I have no problem manipulating a slide with optics as large as a P-2, and from the rear.

Agree, but it's the holsters that get the wear where it's preventable and just not needed. Think little shredded bits of Kydex - 'holster parmesan.'

The 'market' likes those things, but a lot of the market doesn't know how to handle a firearm safely, especially with a lot of new-ish shooters lacking formal training and 'learning' by what they see on social media and not knowing better.

Well that's a user error...it's not the fault of the FSS that people are ignorant and don't know how to use them properly.

To me that would be a teaching moment to show them they're doing it wrong and gonna blow a hole in their hand and then show them the proper way to use them.....not lament that Glocks are less idiot proof with FSS.

Gee maybe they should have a manual safety and a mag disconnect too. If we're trying to keep the newbs from doing something stupid it might be wise to steer them to something less dangerous than a Glock in the first place....maybe a nice revolver.

People saying Glocks are ugly, no THIS is ugly . Yes it's my gun , I use it as a range banger. But it's fugly. It was too cheap to pass up and I just bring it when I'm shooting alone. It might make a good garage gun

Glocks are ugly but in their own industrial nihilistic Austrian way. When I think of a Glock I think of a plain jane Gen 2

I personally don't care about FSS but if I found an early Gen 5 17 without the FSS I'd go for that vs a later one with FSS if I had the option

Otherwise it's whatever. The "bull nose" slide on the Gen 5 looks good , it offsets the FSS

I'm not overly obsessed with how my guns look but I also don't want guns that look like complete 💩 either

Now you do realize that gun would be dead sexy and gun-porn centerfold material for sure, if it didn't have those butt-ugly FSS!!!

Well, here's the Glock 17 OEM gen3 "spare slide" with the MOS cut. I mounted a Holosun 407 optic (RMR footprint on adapter plate).
It's on my 2001 era G17.3. I used my original barrel and RSA for now. The "spare slide" comes with the standard height polymer sights, so no co-witnessing with the optic unless I decide to change sights later.
The serial number on the slide starts with "S" to signify "spare"(?) I guess.

It shoots just like my original G17.3 except it now has an optic.

If Glock can sell spare slides for Gen 3 guns, why can't they sell Spare slides for Gen 5 guns WITHOUT Forward Slide Serrations????

I have a reply to this, but first the disclaimer.
Speaking for myself, Forward Slide serrations serve no purpose whatsoever. I always know whether or not my gun is loaded so I have no need to constantly do press checks. Additionally, I've been using rear slide serrations since I switched from revolvers to 1911's in the late 70's and find using FSS's awkward. And lastly they make the gun look ugly especially on a Glock or a 1911.

HOWEVER, many people find them useful and think they look COOL. And not that there's anything wrong with that !

But my opinion is this:

Has anyone tried AIM Surplus? AimSurplus, LLC

They have some interesting and inexpensive slides.

I have used Lone Wolf Distributing for a couple of slides... Both were for G27 and G23 with 9mm conversion barrels. They work just fine for me...
