As much as I can tell, Orsis was a long-term dealer of Glock and they had access to a production facility (plant "Promtechnologii"), so they ran this experiment. Official numbers set the the number made at 2,000 over the two years. Unfortunately, it wasn't any cheaper than the real Glock and of course they don't have the panache. I did not hear if they won any official orders from the security organizations. As you know, Russian military chose a domestic steel-frame design when they re-armed with 9x19 Luger +P/AP. There was no chance for a large military contract. Orsis continues to sell G34 and G35 for "sporting purposes". A Russian G34 is pretty much a unicorn like Norwegian 1911 with Nazi proofmarks.

GT user T[]RK posted a photo of that "Assembled in Russia" manufacturer stamp in my "Glock generations, 'gills', 2- & 3-pin frames, and other helpful photos" thread, way back in January 2014. I've never seen this marking before or since, so I thought it was interesting. The thread I referenced:

On/about page 5, post #99, post date: Jan 26, 2014. So apparently they've been around for at least a couple of years.

The above photo is better, as the other one was cropped so close I couldn't even tell what model it was.

That would be an interesting find here.

there was a thread floating around recently that showed a Russia stamped slide on the internet last week
An entirely unrelated company in Russia makes a 100% clone of G17 under the moniker "GM-100". Perhaps it was that. Orsis, in contrast, is a partner of Glock in a good standing. As far as I know, they received slides from Austria and they were stamped "Austria" on the slide. But I may be mistaken.
