At the range the other day I shot my Glock 34 against my Walther PDP. It was close. Both pistols have Holosun sights, tungsten recoil rods, and TLR 1 lights attached. The Glock has a Travis Haley trigger installed the Walther PDP has a factory trigger ( which is a really good trigger). The Glock delivers less felt recoil, less muzzle flip and better ergonomics during shooting. It was not just me either. A fellow shooter, who shot both, commented the Glock had less recoil. Much easier to run the Glock faster. The high bore axis of the PDP is a definite minus, although the PDP feels great in the hand. I have to declare the Glock the winner considering also its legendary durability, dependability, reliability and simplicity. Good luck PA state police.

I rented a gen5 34 and a full size 4” PDP a couple of weeks ago . I know with the different length barrels that it is not an apples to apples comparison . I shot the 34 much more accurately , I couldn’t tell any difference in the recoil though . The Walther had a better trigger , but I didn’t mind the Glock trigger . They both felt good in my hand , maybe the Glock felt slightly better . I was pretty much set on buying the 5” PDP until I shot the gen5 34 .

Have both here. The PDP Pro has one of the best stock triggers of any striker fired gun I've shot. My G34 has a tuned trigger, but not as good as the PDP Pro. Between the two, my vote is G34 as well. It's hard to beat it, it's accurate, fast, extremely reliable, and easy to shoot. I think in the last 20,000plus rounds I've had zero jams of any sort. It just runs, and shoots so well. The G34 is one seriously underrated 9mm IMO.

I have both, G34 and a PDP Pro
My G34 has a Timney in it
The PDP has a factory installed DPT with a slightly lighter return spring

I have 1000s of rounds on the G34 (and tens of tens of thousands on Glocks in general)
I maybe have 400 rounds on the PDP, just trying it out and getting use to it.

I can't make the call just yet. The G34 feels like home, I need to give the PDP a fair chance and will have to spend more time with it. The hold is absolutely different. I can shoot it, but it does not feel like home yet.

We will see. :) I just wanted to try something different, and the DPT drew me in on the PDP.

Had both. Sold the PDP five inch, kept the 34.5. The Walther had a good trigger and decent ergonomics, but there was an enormous amount of slop in the frame and slide fit. Much more than necessary for reliability’s sake. Barrel to slide fit was fine.

For the role the gun is filling in my particular case the Glock is just a better choice. Might very well be the other way round for other folks.

Well that is strange. The Walthers have been known for accuracy. I will have to check mine again. However, they have nothing on the Glock with the marksmanshp barrel. I find the Gen 5 Glocks to be really accurate. I have to admit the Glock beats the Walther for me as the Glock absorbs recoil much better and has much les muzzle flip.
