It looks like Glock is ready to release the G46 to the European market. The G46 has as a rotating barrel, and a standard Glock trigger. What advantages would a rotary barrel have over standard Glock barrel? Do you think the G46 will be released in the United States? I believe it would be a good seller. Maybe all Gen6 Glocks will have a rotary barrel. Check out the video below at 30:30 on the time line and check out the G46.

I am interested! Owned my PX4 compact for around 3 years. The rotary barrel system reduces recoil and allows faster follow-up shots. Add this to a Glock and this should be a sweet combination.

It doesn't do anything for me. I just watched the Forgotten Weapons video. The whole thing seems to revolve around idiot proof safety features to make up for a lack of training. The Germans evidently don't trust their cops to be able to clear the weapon before pulling the trigger to disassemble, or making sure the mag has been removed by looking in or feeling the mag well, the little lever to insure the mag has been removed is stupid. The long heavy trigger pull? It's telling that apparently this thing is only for their 'beat' cops, their upper echelon guys, SWAT, types, etc, use standard Glocks or other pistols.

Glocks are good, safe, reliable pistols, it's strange that the Germans chose to put all these stupid requirements rather than spend the time and money to properly train their cops to safely and effectively use standard Glocks. I wonder how much Glock is charging them for these things compared to a standard Glock?

It's also odd that Glock would spend the time and money to develop it for a relatively small contract, unless they wanted to take on the challenge to see if they could do it, and what they would come up with.

According to Ian, they don't plan on releasing them to the civilian market in Europe or the US, or to anyone else, but I suppose that could change once the Germans have finished wringing them out 'on the street' for them. I bet they would sell a ton of them here just because they are different.

I remember when Glock first came out. A lot of people said “No way!!”, because it was so…. different. I was one of them (even though I was a kid at the time). This may get traction if it introduced to the US. I still like the original version and have been carrying my big Glock 23 gen 5 lately.
