I haven't had my hands on a P365 XL yet, though I own the 48. I would say its a tie. The 48 is highly reliable, decent trigger, good capacity and thin for easy carry. It feels good in the hand. The P365 XL does not have the striker drag endemic to the standard P365, and should be more or less equal to the 48 in other metrics.

The P365 XL has better standard sights, better stippling, accepts OEM 12 round and 15 round mags, and costs more. Some would say it has a better trigger. Few would say the 48's trigger is better, but most of us are very familiar with a Glock trigger and that counts for something.

No clear winner.

The are close in size and capacity. IMO it would depend on what one shoots best or maybe brand preference. I would probably choose the Glock 48 or 43X. For now I am sticking with my original version Walther PPS and if I want more rounds available in the pistol magazine I CCW my Gen 2 Glock 19.

I'm not buying either, but I handled both at a local gun store and the Glock felt way better in the hand. I was told that a new metal 15 round mag for the Glock 48 will be available soon.

I guess kinda close, but not so close that I don't see a pretty big difference.

The 365xl (12 rounds) is 4.7" vs the G48 at 5.04" (just 10 rounds).
With 15 rounds, the 365xl is 5.5" in height.

I agree that personal fit and brand loyalty will be deciding factors, but two extra rounds in a smaller package isn't trivial to some.

Consider all the Glock fans folks who put +2 extensions on their Glocks and all the Pearce or Taran extensions sold to people actively searching for an extra round or two!

My P365 worked out so well that the Glock 26 went to the back of the safe and I sold the Glock 43 to partially fund my new P365 XL. If that works out ok, the Glock 19 will be back benched. I expect that the aftermarket will catch up with optics for the XL, and, hopefully, better rail accessories for both. Sig is now selling a flat base plate for the 365 twelve round magazines to allow them to be used in the XL. I hate grip adapters and am hoping to use the XL magazines and flat base fifteens in both guns. In addition, grip modules are cheap and will allow people to switch lowers because the FCU is not an integral part of the lower.

The 48 was never in competition for my money.

The 365 does not fit my hand the G48 feels good. The 365xl is just longer not thicker so it will not fit my hand any better. I like my 365 just grip size is for shi* need so different size grips like the 320.

I don't see the point of the 365XL. The 365 is more concealable and I like the 43X better than the G48.

The 365 was a breakthrough in design except for the reliability issues that took over a year to resolve.

I see no need to turn it into a different gun.

I enjoy my 48 and is my primary carry. I’m waiting for red dot and milling options and wish the frame had a rail built in the frame.

If (time will tell) shield arms successfully launches the 15 round mags, the 43x and 48 will take off and be a real competition between the beloved 19 and 48. We will see.

This summer was supposed to be the release date for SA 15 round mags. Tick tock.
