Glock 43X pocket carry

Up until a year ago, I pocket carried my Glock 43 off duty religiously. Tiny gun with 6+1, it worked for me. For some unk reason, I avoided carrying the G43X. It sat in it's box in the safe.

Last Sept., I retired and joined in at my Dept's LEOSA day at the range. Great time, saw all my old timer friends (some close to 90) and the gun I shot with was a Glock 26 gen4. I did take my pocket carry G43, which I hadn't shot or cleaned in 7-8 months. Since it's a cold range, I fired it after I'd made it safe and reloaded it on the line. Not a perfect test (rules are rules), but it did work 100%

So after I retired I kinda looked around and saw that crime was ticking up. Noticeably.
10+1 looked a lot more inviting. So I tried out the Glock 43X and haven't looked back. It's a little bit more difficult to pocket carry, but it works. Same holsters as the G43 too!

So at my range today, I shot from the pocket. The gun hasn't been cleaned in 8 months (may have added a tiny bit of lube in June), was drawn, fired all 11 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P flawlessly. A reload from the mag I pocket carry in the opposite pocket fed and fired one handed perfectly!

I guess what I'm getting at is that I think Glocks are the best personal handguns out there. Great for duty and off duty. Oh, also, maintain your gear and practice-practice the way you carry.

I realize this is the cop talk sub-forum, and I ain’t one. I do carry a 43 often and own a 43x.

I’ve learned to not let the capacity issue bother me. I carry my 43 w/6+1 and a spare/backup mag with 8 rounds. If I really feel the need, I carry a second backup mag.

If you must carry more in the gun, the magguts +2 is about as small of a mag extension as you can get while adding +2 rounds. There is a slightly smaller configuration, but it requires some fiddling to make it happen and I’m not up on it. If you can pocket carry a 43x, the +2 magguts won’t bother you.

As always, if you do go with any mag extensions, live-fire TEST function with your carry ammo.

I’ve run through a bunch of pocket guns. PM9. S&W 642.

I wound up with an Sig P365 helping a friend out, who it didn’t work for her.

Probably the most phenomenal pocket pistol I’ve ever carried. For 11 rounds of 9mm at 23.3 ounces..It’s very good. And, I like the manual safety.

Its not a true pocket carry gun unless you specifically make time to wear what can make it pocket carry. I can say I did fgond a nice TRUE pocket carry in the LCP Max about 2 weeks ago. This pocket pistol follows my Rules for pocket pistol and CC, and rule #1 is

1. You never "dress around a gun": the gun fits what you normally wear without you having to switch what you wear ..

Ruger LCP Max is my pocket carry 10+1 or 12+1 and TRUE pocket carry. thats my max size for pocket carry

and i normally just wear sweats, cargo pocket shorts in the summer or Jeans(Wrangler relaxed fit) in the fall/winter/spring or a "tactical type cargo pocket pants.

I wont dress around a gun. so anything Glock 43/365/hellcat size is simply too bulky and awkward.

7 days a week, 365 days a year, G43X in my right pocket. Fits everything I wear, Cargo shorts, Khakis, Bermuda shorts, a suit or dungarees, no dressing around the gun. The only exception is the gym, then it's worn IWB while in sweatpants or gym shorts.

The new 15 round PSA Micro Dagger magazines are a game changer for the Glock 43x and Glock 48. The Micro Dagger magazines put Shield Arms Magazines to shame. The Micro Dagger magazines have a polymer sleeve which makes it possible to use them without changing out the magazine catch. They are also much more reliable than the Shield Arms mags….

I have done some digging on Shield Arms vs. PSA 15 round mags. One video with the PSA mags running a thousand or 2 rounds through them resulted in about .85 failures per 100 rounds fired. A similar video resulted in about .65 failures per 100 rounds. Neither of those numbers work for me.

The newest Shield Arms Version 3 are said to address and resolve the issues some people had with the Version 1 and 2 offerings. I'm still sitting on the fence, but at this point in time, the Shield Arms Version 3 mags with their upgraded mag release seem to be the least of the evils.

I'm happy pocket carrying my 43. The 43X just doesn't fit my pocket. I use a "Skin Tight" pocket holster. The issue for me is length of the grip. I also ALWAYS carry a spare mag for the 43 with the Pearce +1 grip extension.
