GLOCK 43 slide problem??

I just purchased a new Glock 43 in November. My problem is with an unloaded magazine in the gun if I pull the slide all the way to open locked position I can't close slide. It won't release by pushing the slide stop lever or pulling back a little more on the slide and releasing. The only way that the slide will close is if I take out the unloaded magazine and pull back on it and let go of it. The slide stop lever doesn't close the slide with magazine in or out.

With the magazine in, you need to pull the slide back and push down on the slide stop....... or press down on the slide stop but it requires much more pressure than you might realize....... The slide should close magazine or not by pressing the slide down...... it just requires more pressure......

Normal you have the mag follower putting upward pressure on the slide stop so slingshot will not release slide and when thumbing down slide stop you are working against the resistance of the mag follower and spring. I suspect if you push real hard down on the slide stop it will eventually release. I don’t see a scenario where this would be needed however

OP is first talking about an UNLOADED mag in the pistol I believe. If that is so neither sling shot nor slide stop will send the slide forward. The empty mag must be released, at least a bit, to send the slide forward. Not closing with the slide back and the mag out using the slide stop may just be too little pressure applied to the slide stop.

Correct but for me it takes considerably more pressure on the slide release to send the slide forward with an empty mag inserted. Probably old age on my part.
