Glock 34 or 35 as a carry gun?

I have been wanting a Glock 34 or 35 for awhile now, (Gen 4, non-MOS) and been wondering how this beast would fair as a carry gun. I have carried a 17/22/31 before and it is not bad. I carry outside the waist band at 3:00 position in a kydex holster of sorts, so I would plan to do the same here. Any opinions?

He could always do the apocalypse duct tape over the cut out. I've joked around about this, before, but it probably isn't too unreasonable if you really wanted to keep dirt out. My daughters carry a G34 in the scrub and we've really had no trouble with it. Definitely nothing like I thought. With the right holster, you almost have to purposely put some dirt in it. CC'ing in town??? I'd be a lot less concerned. 'Bout the only thing I'd worry about getting in there is some lint, and if lint will choke a Glock, I'll crush everyone of them I own.

You only have to conceal a little more slide, if you've already CC'd a 17/22/31. CC'ing more slide is way easier than CC'ing more grip. That aside, I'd ask if I was happy with 9mm output or do I want the capabilities of 40 S&W, and do I want to deal with the extra recoil.

I just carried my 35 at work yesterday. I stick with OWB. An untucked shirt did quite nicely in an OEM Sport/Combat holster. People look at it and think it's so big. As was mentioned above, it's no bigger than a 1911... and a lot lighter.

You can carry a microwave oven under your t-shirt if you are totally committed to it, and a 34/35 is certainly manageable. The real question is whether its worth it to you. Every question entails a cost/benefit analysis, whether we do that expressly or not. For me, the added velocity and sight radius of a 34/35, which provides minimal benefit over a 17/22, would not be worth the discomfort of a long slide going halfway down my leg. But only you can make that determination for yourself. Recognize also that you would be going to a 34/35 mostly for the good vibes it gives you, not any practical benefit - unless you plan on plinking someone at 100 yards. And since the guy who gets his front sight on center of mass first wins, the added slide length could actually be a very slight detriment in a defensive encounter. It may be easier to get a 43 into action than a 34, at least in terms of draw speed. Less slide to clear the holster, though you are dealing with a shorter grip too.

I'd pick the 35, more power.

You need a fine Kydex holster to conceal a 34/35/41. Raven concealment and KT will have the best holsters for OWB. They both cover the slide hole snugly so no dirt gets in. Also checkout Bigfoot belts.

If you ever plan on getting the Glock 41. Then get a 41 holster for your 34/35. The nose of the 41 is a little longer.

Crossbreed for IWB.

Plenty of people carry fullsize 1911's. Due to it's lack of weight, I'd say that these Glocks carry and conceal better. Printing is a joke. I don't have to care about that in Ohio.

If you're comfortable with carrying either, why not?!

I'm not a big 9mm fan so I've never considered the G34, but a month or so ago I happened across a used Gen3 G35 that I just couldn't pass up, and I've since converted it to .357SIG with an Alpha Wolf conversion barrel from LWD. Despite internet rumors, the .40S&W isn't a bad cartridge, but given the choice I'd rather carry 15+1 of .357SIG than either 15+1 of .40S&W or 17+1 of 9mm.

It's nice to have the .357SIG option with the G35, an option that you can't enjoy with the G34. 'Something to ponder...

I bought a new G34 a few months ago and been practicing a lot with it. Now that I'm comfortable with it and got to know it well, I am ready to carry it.

I can't do it with jeans and a T-Shirt like the G26 which totally disappears, but with the G34 I have to at least wear jacket or a loose fitting and untucked dress shirt. Then it disappears.

I've been carrying it around all day in the very same (open bottom) hybrid holster I use for my G26 and G30S, and I'm very comfortable with it. I usually carry at 4:00, but for this one I have to carry at 3:00.

I had my doubts, but I'm really happy I can carry around my new G34, which is a pistol I am getting to like a lot.
