Sooo, it seems the 357 sig has garnered some attention again. I’ve read several comments about a desire for a 357L, or something longer than the 31.

Comments on why this has not happened and/or will it happen with the generation 5 product?

I wonder if Glock supports this cartridge to its potential? Your comments would be appreciated.

Understood, and I see the fix. What about Glock.... there’s the 17L and 24 in this platform why not the 357 sig?

I'm going to guess not enough demand / market for it? :(

I mean look alone at how long people begged for a long slide .45 like the G34/35 ? (not to mention the DEMAND for the G43 forever from everyone for a slim, single stack 9mm that has now sold like wildfire? :O)

I'd say it's also similar to what it took to get long slide 10mm G40? :(

Unfortunately there's just not enough demand in the .357 auto cartridge. :( It could always be worse, you could want one in .45 GAP? :) LOL

Now that I think about it, search for a G24 length aftermarket barrel?

Forget Glock, it's just not going to happen, but I am sure someone either makes or CAN make a .357 auto barrel in the G17L / G24 length? For the right price.......................... :(

BTW, isn't the .357 auto designed around a 125gr bullet from a specific length barrel also? I'm going to guess a 4" barrel or so? Maybe whatever either a Sig P229 or P226 barrel length was? I mean as far as what the round was design to be most effective with bullet weight and velocity wise?

Given the limited amount of possible bullet weights available in the caliber, you may get into a situation where pushing the round does not necessarily improve it's performance also?

I don't know I'm just guessing here, knowing that with some other calibers you can reach a point where pushing them velocity wise does not necessarily improve their performance also? :( Again, I could be wrong too, someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

G35 with an aftermarket barrel ?

I've contemplated doing such a thing myself?................................
I made it past the contemplating stage, Gen 3 G35 with a KKM 357 Sig barrel. The only thing I regret is that there was also a G24 available AND KKM makes a 357 barrel for that as well!

You hit it right on the nose. Creating a "longer" barreled G31 is easily and readily accomplished with an Alpha Wolf conversion barrel in a G35...mine shown below is reliable, plenty accurate, and with the 5.32" barrel it offers more muzzle velocity and energy than the G31, making it one of my favorite Glocks:

I've come to favor the longer barreled Practical/Tactical models, like the G35 and G41, and built a longslide G40 from a Gen G20 just because. Other than what I consider poor Glock ergonomics, what's not to like about them other than their length if contemplating a pocket pistol...

I have been watching for another G-24, I had one and had to let it go. I had the same idea of getting a 357 barrel for it.
I have been thinking about building a 45 long slide also. I have been told that Lone Wolf has a Barrel, and slide for a G-21 slide. I have a G-17L, and would like to set up a few more.
I had a slide, and 6" barrel on a 1911 frame at one time.
I like long slides to shoot at the range.

I've had both a 357 Sig conversion barrel for a G35 in a G31 and a G35 converted to 357 Sig with a Lone Wolf barrel, my chronograph results with my hand loads show a increase in velocity with the same load though I don't believe it was an "apples to apples" comparison due to polygonal/conventional rifling differences between the stock G31 barrel and the Lone Wolf G35 conversion barrel.

check out the link below for a more in-depth barrel length/velocity comparison.
