Sent from I have a chance to trade my Glock 27 for a Kimber pro carry 2both guns are used. The finish on the kimber is very worn the inside looks good ran 50 rounds threw it no issues. Do you guys think it would be a good trade . . Thanks Ross.my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Not in a million years, if it was me. Maybe if the Kimber looked really good and I could sell it and buy a new G27 and have money left over, but a mig, heavy, low capacity .45 with lots of controls and such is the last thing I want for a carry gun.

The Kimber's not that heavy, it's an alloy frame. The two things I didn't like about it were the Swarz safety, you have to be sure not to push the grip safety when removing/ replacing the slide (PITA) and having to use a little tool like an Allen wrench or bent paper clip to field strip. I also found I needed to wear a t-shirt when carrying a 1911 IWB. Okay now, but not so much in July and August. I prefer carrying my G26.

you just can't beat the reliability of the 27. I would also worry about any issues that there might be with the Kimber. most people won't sell a reliable 1911 but there are many on the market that people just can't get the bugs out of. without a warranty you could be into a lot of headaches and cash payouts. If you like a 1911 buy one new someday. to me I think the 27 with the right load is the perfect carry gun with everything a carry SD gun needs to offer, starting with near 100% reliability.

My first handgun was a brand spanking new Colt Combat Commander that I bought proudly in 1975 (which I still own)...

My CCW since 1999 is a 27...

Tell you anything about my opinion?
I bought my Combat Comander in 1980 and still own it and carry it in the winter from time to time but my main carry gun is a 27 loaded with 180grn HSTs.
what a difference in carry weight
all said if I had to shoot I would be faster and more accurate with the 1911 and the 230grn HSTs strike a very conclusive blow.
I have been toying with the idea of an alloy framed Commander size 1911 from S&W.

Being a longtime 1911 owner & shooter, I'd keep the G27, myself.

Save up and buy a new, good quality 1911 if you really want one.

I have a Kimber (it's a wonderful pistol) and a G27.

If I had to choose between the two, the G27 is a carry gun and gets the nod.

I would go with the Glock put nite sites try a new holster rig mags are cheap. My Kimber CDP full size had the hammer follow down when cocked . Had a Custom Tac 2 was a jammer from day one . and my sons hammer broke . Funny I picked up a new ATI thunder Bolt loaded and it has been flawless and no 500 round breakin .
