Well I just pick up a police trade in G27 so I will be getting another one soon.

I don’t like the Gen 5’s but I might grab a Gen 3-4 for a .40 is dead price
Don't care for the additional weight or is it something else?

I'm with him regarding only wanting a Gen3 or 4. I want my next one's slide to fit in the same holsters, and I don't care for the ambi slide stop lever (and the way it had to be shoe-horned into the frame on the right side). Sure, I think the new slide lock spring and trigger spring are good improvements. I'm not so sure about the slide stop lever coil spring and the lack of a LB pin, though, meaning not enough to wish a Gen5 version of the G27 if a NIB Gen3 or 4 can still be found.

Different strokes.

Kydex holsters with tension adjustment will work if they’re backed all the way off. At least they have IME. I also have a few friends that have clipped off the right side of the ambi slide stop. A lever on that side doesn’t bother me at all. Never had an issue with the new coil spring either. As for the 3rd pin? With the additional slide weight I can understand why it’s not needed. But if I wanted it I guess I could drill it in. The locking block still has the slot for it. Would be easy to use a Gen 3 or 4 frame as a guide.

Most of the time when I hear distaste for the Gen 5 it centers around the extra weight. But to each their own. I prefer the Gen 5. Others don’t. Freedom of choice allows either viewpoint to be happy.

Is the list on the second post complete? I thought .357 models had also been discontinued…
Post #2, that's why I included the Glock website link that list all of the discontinued commercial models.
I only took a screen shot that included the G27 for the OP.
Click the link for the Glock website if you want to see the entire list.

Don’t need the xtra weight.

Might not fit my holsters

Don’t want/need/like the ambi slide stop

And, last but not least I will echo @Borg Warner absolute hate for the front slide serrations. Ugly and I would never use.

Oh yeah, I like finger grooves also.

Doesn’t really matter, I have a 2.5 & 3rd Gen G27 so I really don’t “need” another.

Except this isn't part of the business model and plan of the new Glock management. Instead of allowing non-Gov customers a choice, they're being told that going forward they can't have various models at all.

This is going to make for a great opportunity for the other gun makers, if they wish to take advantage of it, except that the recent market trend has been moving away from the .40 S&W. The low-recoil 9 is the current darling of both the private owner and a growing segment of LE/Gov.

The Henry Ford approach? You can have it in any caliber you want. So long as it’s 9mm.

Although much of this is moot for me as I’m not very pleased with Glock’s recent push for state level gun control. *Have been carrying my Steyrs for the past several days.

I didn't find the 27 much more concealable than the 23. With the advent of slim Glocks, I can understand the decision to stop making small bricks.

Different strokes.

Take Care,

John

I have a G17.5 on layaway at my LGS, picking up soon. I think it is a stupid move by Glock to only concentrate on making primarily 9mm variations from now on their upcoming Gen 6 models, whenever they're going to be out. But, I don't run the company, of course. I just buy their stuff.

They're not available for commercial customers, but they're available for law enforcement customers.
You have to look for police trade-ins for the Glock 27 otherwise look for a gun store that has "Blue Labels" specials. A "Blue Label Specials" is available to law enforcement, first responders and active duty military and veterans. If you're an airline pilot, you can use that too. Gun stores will put the price tag on Glock pistols with a "Blue Label".
